Er setzte sich aber mit politischen und gesellschaftlichen Problemen seiner Zeit auseinander, brandmarkte die Aufklärung und das Unheil, das sie unter der Jugend anrichte. "Er überführte das magizistisch-theosophische pietistische Schrifttum der Rokokozeit in den frühromantischen Sprachgebrauch, dadurch wurde er... zum einflußreichen Wegbereiter der Münchner Romantik. Baader war Schüler E.s. Doch auch Novalis, wohl sogar Schelling und Hölderlin wurden von ihm angeregt. E.s Bedeutung ist der seines Freundes Sailer oder Jung-Stillings vergleichbar" (H. Graßl u. F. Oktober 1686 - gerechnet nach dem zu diesem Zeitpunkt im lutherischen Hamburg noch gültigen julianischen Kalender - war der Hamburger Kaufmann Hieronymus Snitger (1648-1686) zusammen mit dem Reeder Cord Jastram (1634-1686) öffentlich enthauptet worden. K., from his old companion-on-the-hoof a.c., known in the Arcane Aeropagus as Aleister Crowley. O., 1941.⁂ An excellent association copy inscribed to a companion on Crowley's failed expedition to climb K2.The expedition to climb K2 in 1902 was unfortunately unsuccessful although the party reached further than any before them and set several altitude endurance records in doing so. The expedition was beset by bad weather as well as the party suffering from a multitude of physical (Crowley had recurring bouts of malaria) and psychological ailments. Crowley's eccentricities including his decision to bring a substantial poetry library with him did not help matters; at one point Crowley threatened Knowles with a large revolver but was disarmed by the rest of the party. Knowles kept the revolver for the rest of his life as a memento of the extraordinary episode.

June 1916." and "To Gerda von Kothek from Aleister Crowley Sept. 1916 E.V." to endpaper, autograph letter fromt Crowley signed "666" loosely inserted, some very light marginal toning, original buckram, lettered in gilt, light browning to spine and toning to covers, t.e.g., other uncut, [Yorke 36], small 4to, Palanza, Privately Printed [but probably London, Chiswick Press], 1912.⁂ An excellent double-presentation copy that paints an illuminating picture of Crowley's tangled love life. Crowley met "AKC" while staying in New York and swiftly began an affair with his wife, Ratan Devi. AKC allegedly did not mind the affair and merely asked Crowley to find him a mistress of his own, with Crowley only too happy to oblige. The woman picked out for AKC was a former lover of Crowley's and part-time sex worker Gerda von Kothek. Inevitably the somewhat complex affair collapsed, with Crowley alleging that AKC became jealous of him once Ratan Devi's career as a singer and musician began to flourish.The letter, addressed to Frank West-Kelsey castigates him for unspecified reasons "The Patient can never judge his own case - and, Lord! You need a doctor!"

Timor Second World War (WWII) military issue "Dirty Dozen" wristwatch, having a black dial with Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds, mechanical movement and marked to the revers Timor with the broad arrow WWW K 11145 41045, together with a brown leather strap. "Dirty Dozen" is in reference to the twelve manufactures which produced watches for the British Government to be used by all services of the British Armed Forces between 1944-1945 with Timor producing 13,000 time pieces. DUNCANSON – LIEUT – P – K.A.R”; small oval French disc with scene of French soldier with angel above, to the reverse is engraved “CAPT H. V. British 1855 Lancaster Bayonet, interesting example being a cut down version of the 1855 Lancaster carbine bayonet as issued to the Sappers & Miners and Medical Staff Corps. The bayonet has the brass hilt with circular hole to the centre. Black chequered grips and brass cross guard with muzzle ring. The scabbard of black leather and brass mounts. Top scabbard mount has had the frog stud removed and brass loops added. Cut down blade with various acceptance stamps and stamped “S&K”. Blade 38 ½ cms, overall 52cms. Leather shrunk so small gap between bayonet and scabbard mount when sheathed.

The diamonds are bright and lively, colour varying from H-K, clarity varying, but mostly SI. The settings are gold and silver. The chain is later, the Victorian gem set section has been adapted, there is a hook to the top of the cluster, and the chain is later. There is thinning to the bottom loop that the drop is suspended from, you could almost swap the side the drop hangs from the vacant hook at the top.
