Lievi bruniture dovute alla qualità della carta. Legatura in piena pergamena rigida coeva con nervi passanti e titolo manoscritto al dorso. Bindelle mancanti.Prima edizione platiniana e prima edizione con il commento di Andreas Schott. La carta geografica raffigura il globo terracqueo conosciuto ai tempi di Pomponio Mela. La mappa fu disegnata da A. Ortelius ed è datata 1582. Si tratta di una delle pochissime mappe firmate dall'Ortelio, che testimonia dei suoi interessi per la geografia degli antichi. "The engraved map is one of the few maps signed by Ortelius. It reflects his classical interests and shows the ancient world supposedly according to the writings of Pomponius Mela. As well as Europe and Asia, Ortelius has included the whole of Africa with a note of apology for the anachronistic addition of the southern part" (Shirley 145). La seconda opera, la Geographica di Erodoto, benché pubblicata a parte, si trova quasi sempre rilegata insieme al Mela. Contemporary vellum over pasteboards. Title inked on the spines, ties lacking. First Plantiniana edition, and first edition to contain the commentary by di Andreas Schott. The fine map, dated 1582, was drawn by Abraham Ortelius, and is one of the few maps signed by him, revealing his interest in ancient geography. Marca tipografica a carta m4v, iniziali e fregi in legno. Ritratto calcografico dell'autore, preso da un'edizione settecentesca, aggiunto a mo' d'antiporta. Restauri all'angolo inferiore delle ultime dieci carte, fioriture e lievi aloni marginali, segno di tarlo all'angolo inferiore esterno delle ultime 10 carte senza danno al testo. Legatura in mezza pelle bazzana posteriore, con dorso a cinque nervi, tassello, filetti e titolo in oro. Piatti rivestiti in carta marmorizzata. Tagli azzurri. Prima edizione, nella più rara tiratura recante l'emblema del Caro sul titolo anziché la marca con il liocorno del Viotti, di questa celebre opera che innescò una delle più aspre polemiche letterarie del Cinquecento italiano, quella fra il Caro e Ludovico Castelvetro. L'opera apparve anonima sotto il nome degli Accadmici dei Banchi. Variante C: testo a p. 241 "La nobil Secchia harà per nume un drago?". Melzi, I, p. 5; Gamba, 276.

A pair of 18ct white gold and diamond stud earrings the baguette cut diamonds, approx. 0.50ct each, in four claw settings. (2)* Condition: Excellent condition - no wear or chips to stones and appear to have very little use. Stones do not have any paperwork or certificates. One has a visible white line inclusion at the edge near one claw - only visible through a 10x lens. Otherwise clarity very good. Colour is approx. K, showing faint colour. Basket settings are cast and both have some 'flash' to the casting at one end of the basket which has filled in an area which should be pierced. A jeweller could clean this up quite easily if required.
