A Nishapur buffware pottery bowl Persia, 10th Centuryof shallow rounded form on a short foot with everted rim, decorated underglaze in yellow, green and manganese on a cream ground with a cheetah standing on the back of a horse surrounded by vegetal decoration and pseudo-kufic motifs, the border with a band of split palmettes, the rim with alternating floral and chevron motifs, the exterior with panels of chevrons interspersed by radiating lines, old collection labels to base 20.4 cm. diam.
