A 19th century glass intaglio depicting Pluto kidnapping Proserpine in a quadriga, Pluto carrying a bident staff and with a serpent depicted to the lower right corner, intaglio 22mm wide, in a gold ring mount, size K A similar example carved in carnelian was in the collection of Prince Stanislas Poniatowski (see Beazley Archive ref 1839-62). It is likely that lot 1406 is a copy of the original and is missing the Greek pseudo-signature.
