2009 Montblanc Thomas Mann 3-Piece Writers Series limited edition fountain pen set, with box, outer box and certificate booklet. The platinum-plated inlays in the rich black lacquer of this set are inspired by the Art Deco era to which Mann lived in. The interplay of colours and materials symbolizes the different relationships between the characters in his most famous novel, “Buddenbrooksâ€. This 3-piece fountain pen, ballpoint and pencil set was limited to 3000 (1001/3000), each piece appears unused with original plastic cellophane pouches and original M sticker on base of fountain pen, 18 K medium nib with engraving of the Buddenbrooks house, Mann’s home and now the Thomas Mann museum. Overall near mint condition, some marking to foam on inside lid of box, rubbing to corners of outer box.

Pilot Dunhill Namiki Yukari Royale Fall Flowers limited edition fountain pen, with decorative wood box. This Yukari Royale maki-e fountain pen done by urushi artist Michifumi Kawaguchi incorporates two types of lacquer work: Togadashi-maki-e, this technique gives the surface great depth as the material is burnished in and then re-covered in lacquer and gold dust and Taka-maki-e, this technique causes the surface to swell and creates a three-dimensional effect. The pen comes with original wood box, ink bottle and instructions (certificate and registration card absent). Pen with two-tone medium Namiki 18 K nib with Mount Fuji emblem. The Skyline was designed by Henry Dreyfuss, known for his streamlined locomotive designs, the Skyline captures these design elements in pen form. The Executive was the largest of the three Skyline sizes produced, they were available in solid coloured barrels with striped caps and solid black. This example in black with gold filled trim and Eversharp 14 K fine nib. Length 5 5/8†and 6 1/4†posted, filling mechanism lever fill. Overall excellent condition with minor wear to trim. Executive Skylines are far less common than the other two sizes and are often hard for collectors to discern the difference though they are much larger with larger nibs.
Waterman Ideal #3/94 Olive Ripple bandless fountain pen set with nickel trim, boxed. The Olive Ripple was one of three later coloured Ripple models that Waterman introduced to compete with the marbled celluloid pens from the three other major American manufacturers of the time (Parker, Sheaffer and Wahl Eversharp). Waterman quickly made the switch to celluloid when they introduced the Patrician line, combined with the fragility of the coloured Ripples they are far less common today and are prized by collectors. This set is the same size as the 94, the larger of two sizes produced by Waterman but is marked 3 on the base. Likely sold at the end of the production line with nickel trim and bandless cap and Waterman Ideal 4 14 K extra fine flexible nib 14 K nib and matching feed. Length 5†(pencil), 5 1/16†and 6 1/2†posted (pen), filling mechanism lever fill. Overall excellent condition as the set appears to have seen little use, the clips do show some wear but have not been thoroughly cleaned, box has some wear to edges and interior. A truly uncommon late model Ripple set.

Eisenstadt oversized flattop black chased hard rubber fountain pen. Eisenstadt was in business for over 100 years but only made pens for a short period of time, They are noteworthy with their large spoon clip and reverse lever, both with the square ruler and E emblem. They were high quality pens with 14 K nibs and made in hard rubber and celluloid. This is an earlier black chased hard rubber model with stamped MANI No. 8 14 K St Louis fine tipped nib. Length 5 3/8†and 7†posted, filling mechanism lever fill. Overall good condition, some discolouration to hard rubber and brassing to the cap band, some wear to imprint. Eisenstadt pens are not common and larger oversized 8 size models are uncommon. Pen was water tested and filled at time of listing.

1946 Parker 51 Vacumatic Empire Cap Solid 14 K pink and yellow gold cap fountain pen set, boxed. The Empire 51 set with design similar to the Empire State Building in pink gold set on yellow gold is possibly the most well known of the decorative Parker 51 caps, the pattern is sharply struck with 14 K markings on the cap lip, clips, nose cone and end tassie. It has a fine 14 K nib and India Black barrels. Length 5 3/16†(pencil), 5 3/8†and 5 15/16†posted, filling mechanism Vacumatic fill. Overall excellent condition, caps bright and free of dings, pen with slight markings to hood and neatly engraved initials on back of cap, pencil free of engravings, box with some wear to outer edges. A classic 51 set with solid 14 K gold two-tone caps.
Parker Lucky Curve 32 acid etched sterling silver overlay fountain pen. This was one of Parker’s few models with this sort of silver work, the pen has large lilies and scroll work throughout. Overall good condition, some small dings around the edge of crown and ring missing from ring top, some small marks to hard rubber of pen, silver acid etched work is bright throughout. Visconti Giacomo Leopardi limited edition fountain pen with box, papers and protective cardboard sleeve. In 1998 Visconti released this fountain pen to commemorate the bi-centenary of the birth of Giacomo Leopardi, one of greatest Italian poets. This pen was limited to 2000 (451/2000). Sterling silver cap and barrel overlay with 19th century style embellishments along with his poem “The Infinite†engraved on the barrel with Visconti 14 K medium nib. Schnell green and pearl Penselpen fountain pen/pencil combination. Schnells rise to fame was their popular airplane clip (propeller front, wings and raised tail end), it was reported that Parker attempted to purchase the clip design and that Julius Schnell, the inventor of the clip, turned them down. The clip was designed days after Charles Lindbergh’s transatlantic flight and capitalized on the insatiable appetite for all things airplane. Schnell also was a great self-promoter and took credit for starting the pen/pencil combination craze of the late 1920s-1930s where nearly all manufacturers made at least one pen/pencil combination. They are uncommon today and prized by collectors, in this catalog we have a small collection of Schnell items in different sizes and colours. This green and pearl pen in 2 size with ring top and Schnells Penselpen 14 K fine nib. Length 5 3/8" and 5 3/8" posted, filling mechanism slide lever fill. Overall excellent condition with bright colour throughout, crisp imprints, minor brassing to nose cone.

Pilot Dunhill Namiki urushi-e maki-e fountain pen. The urushi-e is a painting technique using coloured urushi, this is different in method from many of the maki-e pens. This example depicts a Phoenix and plant leaf in brown lacquer ground, together with gold, green, ochre and red urushi-e. In Namiki - The Art of Japanese Lacquer Pens by Hutt/Overbury (page 90 & 91) a nearly identical example is pictured. They note “The technique of painting lacquer on pens is rare.†Rolled gold 14 K cap band and N stamped Namiki pivot lever with marked Medium Dunhill Namiki 14 KT 2 or 3 nib (bottom of number hidden). Length 5â€. Overall excellent condition, clip is absent. An elaborate work that Pilot brought back in the 1980’s when they reintroduced lacquer pens in vintage forms. Scarce.

Andrew Carnegie was an industrialist and later philanthropist, he led the expansion of the American steel industry in the late 19th century. This Art Nouveau styled pen in sterling silver filigree adorned with a graceful silhouette of a woman whose wings wrap the cap of the pen like a butterfly. Decorative two-tone 18 K Rhodium plated medium nib with lily and M sticker on pen, it was limited to 4810 pieces (600/4810). Length 5 3/4†and 6 5/8†posted, filling mechanism piston fill. Overall near mint condition, pen appears to be unused, box shows some wear to corners.
Pilot Dunhill Namiki Yukari Royale Hina Dolls maki-e limited edition fountain pen set with lacquer box, accessories, papers, outer boxes and shipping cardboard box. In 2014 Namiki paid homage to one of Japan's most celebrated tradition, the Hina Dolls Festival. These pens were produced as a set and limited to just 70 pieces (40/70), comprised of black and red lacquer pens, the Obirna (prince doll) and Mebirna (princess doll). Crafted and hand painted by artist Mamoru Wakabayashi. The Obirna pen features raised taka maki-e and burnished togidashi maki-e against a black urushi with the mandarin orange tree to symbolize auspiciousness and longevity. The Mebirna pen features lavish costumes in takamaki-e against red urushi with cherry blossoms known as "Sakura" representing good omen and blessings. Both pens have medium 18 K nibs with Mount Fuji emblem. Length 5 7/8â€, filling mechanism cartridge/converter fill (both converters present). Overall near mint condition, red lacquer pen has been filled, black appears to be unused. Decorative boxes and accessories all appear untouched with certificate of authenticity.

Montblanc Albert Einstein limited edition fountain pen, with box, outer box and cardboard sleeve. The Greatest Characters Series received a new model in late 2012 when Montblanc introduced the Albert Einstein, limited to 3000 pens (1849/3000), the platinum plated body shines with the sweet light of a distant star while the dark blue lacquer of the cap recalls the velvety darkness of the endless universe. The grid on the cap is inspired by the general theory of the relativity of Einstein, bending around the platinum plated sphere on the clip, just like the light from a distant object in space would be bent by a star or a Galaxy in the foreground in what is known today as the gravitational lens. The body is engraved with the most important formulas of Einstein’s work, with 18 K 750 Rhodium plated gold medium nib with design of the element Es (Einsteinium). Length 5 1/2â€, filling mechanism piston fill. Overall near mint condition with original vacuum seal pouch, outer cardboard sleeve with some marks.
Conklin Crescent Filler S5 sterling silver filigree over black hard rubber fountain pen. This large example with heavy sterling silver filigree marked Sterling H (Heath) on cap, Heath made high quality filigree and overlay work for several brands, most notably Parker and Conklin. Slip cap 5 size model, marked 5 near end of barrel, replacement Waterman Ideal 14 K nib with original Conklin feed. Length 5 1/4†and 6 3/4†posted, filling mechanism Crescent fill. Overall fair to good condition, some scratching to section and base of barrel, discolouration to rubber present and initials in cursive script in cartouche. Conklin Crescent Filler pens in sterling are far less common then gold filled, larger models over 4 size are scarce.
Wahl Eversharp Engine Turned gold on silver vermeil fountain pen. The pattern is similar to that of the Lakeside which has enamel inlay but this pattern that was once considered uncatalogued appears in the 1929 catalog as "Engine Turned" (details from page 112 of Eversharp: Cornerstone of an Industry by Jon Veley). 4 size pen with Wahl 4 14 K fine nib. Length 4 7/8†and 6 3/8†posted. Overall excellent condition with sharp pattern, engraved KEY near base of cap lip. An uncommon pattern.
Parker 75 Ambassador sterling silver Tiffany 3-piece fountain pen set. The Ambassador, a lined sterling silver pattern for the Parker 75 was made in a short run for Tiffany to be sold at their stores, this example is a 3-piece fountain pen, soft-tip (rollerball) and mechanical pencil set. All pieces are marked TIFFANY Made By Parker Made in U.S.A. Sterling Silver. Fountain pen with broad 14 K nib and feed marked B. Length 5†(pencil), 5 1/16†and 5 1/2†posted (rollerball), 5 1/16†and 5 1/2†posted (pen), filling mechanism cartridge/converter (converter present). Overall good condition with some wear from use, one small ding to barrel of pen, dish tassies, pencil with twist mechanism.
Waterman Ideal 94 Rose Ripple fountain pen. The Rose Ripple was one of three later coloured Ripple models that Waterman introduced to compete with the marbled celluloid pens from the three other major American manufacturers of the time (Parker, Sheaffer and Wahl Eversharp). Waterman quickly made the switch to celluloid when they introduced the Patrician line, combined with the fragility of the coloured Ripples they are far less common today and are prized by collectors. The 94 is the larger of two sizes produced by Waterman, this example with Waterman Ideal Canada 4 fine tipped flexible 14 K nib and Rose feed. Length 5 1/16†and 6 1/2†posted. Overall excellent condition, even Ripple colour and good imprints and trim. Nice Canadian example of the desirable 94 Rose Ripple.
2002 Pelikan Gaudi sterling silver filigree limited edition fountain pen with decorative sculpture, papers, box/tube and outer cardboard box. Pelikan produced this pen to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. Famed for his modernist design this Pelikan was inspired by his design of La Pedrera Casa Mila in Barcelona. Limited to 1000 pens this is an early example (163/1000). This M800 model has decorative sterling silver filigree work on the barrel with silver trim and is enclosed in a sculpture with dark medieval design along with tube style decorative housing and outer cardboard box. Pen with 18 K medium nib, length 5 1/2†and 6 1/2†posted, filling mechanism piston fill. Overall near mint, pen appears to be unused, outer housing has one small area of damage, otherwise mint.
1993 Montblanc Imperial Dragon Agatha Christie Writers Series limited edition sterling fountain pen with box, outer box, papers and cardboard protective sleeve. The Imperial Dragon was designed for the Asian market in place of the Agatha Christie where a dragon was thought to be more favourably received. This limited edition pen was limited to 5000 (3166/5000), this example with medium two-tone 18 K nib and original barrel sticker. Length 5 5/8†and 6 5/8†posted, filling mechanism piston fill. Overall near mint condition, pen appears unused, outer box is sealed on one side with very slight rubbing to the corners, outer cardboard sleeve with some marks. A pristine example.
