Er wurde von Constable und den Malern von Fontainbleau beeinflußt. Der Künstler hielt sich 1845 in Italien und 1863 in Paris auf. Seidel war ein wichtiger Vertreter der "Paysage intime". Der freie und breitflächige Pinselduktus galt zu seiner Zeit als sehr fortschrittlich.

Julius Klever war ein russischer Künstler deutscher Herkunft und einer der wichtigsten russischen salonakademischen Landschaftsmaler des 19. Jahrhunderts. Im Jahr 1867 begann er zuerst in Architekturklassen an der Kaiserlichen Akademie der Künste in St. Petersburg zu studieren, wechselte aber bald in die Landschaftsklasse, wo er bei S. M. Vorobyov und dann bei M. K. Klodt studierte. Er erhielt kleine und große Silbermedaillen der Kaiserlichen Akademie der Künste (1870), wo er 1881 zum Professor berufen wurde.

Karl Hubbuch begann sein Studium 1908 bei Walter Georgi an der Badischen Akademie. 1912-14 besuchte er die Grafikklasse von Emil Orlik am Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin; Mitschüler waren George Grosz und Oskar Nerlinger. 1920 wurde Hubbuch Meisterschüler in der Radierklasse bei Walter Conz in Karlsruhe. Als exponierter Vertreter der "Neuen Sachlichkeit" (Karlsruhe) sowie scharfer Gesellschaftskritiker gehörte Hubbuch zu den auffallendsten Figuren in der reichen Kunstszene der 20er Jahre. Wieder in Berlin entstanden mehrere politische Arbeiten, die soziale Missstände durch satirisch-karikierende Kontraste aufzeigten.
