A 15th YEOMANRY BATTALION HAMPSHIRE REGT MC TRIO. A 1914/15 Star Trio named to 2/Lt H R Reynolds ASC on the Star, Capt H R Reynolds on the pair. WW2 Defence medal in box of issue, addressed to Mr H R Reynolds, The Old Rectory, Fyfield. Andover, Hants. Issued in 1948 with the stamp of Territorial & Auxilary Forces of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. A member of the Hampshire Homeguard, most likely in Andover. Also a 1937 Coronation Medal, unnamed as issued. A cased Small Bore Rifle Association Distinguished Members named medal, with a further five years bar. The son of the Reverend E K R Reynolds of Fifield, Nr Andover. Henry Robert Reynolds was born on the 14th April 1889 in Hampshire, he was educated at Marlborough & Keeble Colleges. It was at the latter he studied for and passed his BA. Commissioned a 2/Lt into the Army Service Corps, he was promoted Lieutenant in 1915. In 1918 he was attached to the 15th (Yeomanry) Battalion of the Hampshire Regt, It was whilst serving as an Acting Captain in this battalion he was awarded a Military Cross. The award appeared in the London Gazette issue date 08/03/1919. 3425. His citation appeared in the London Gazette dated 3/10/1919 issue 31583. With reference to the Awards conferred as announced in the London Gazette dated the 8th March 1919, the following are the statements of services for which the awards were conferred. A Cpt H R Reynolds; On the 21st October,1918, at the Canal at Knokke, he displayed great courage and initiative while in command of a platoon on the flank of his company. Under his leadership the Platoon fearlessly rushed several strongpoints in spite of heavy rifle and machine gun fire, which enabled the whole company to advance. A Teacher by profession he was educated at Marlboro and Keeble Colleges, and was at one time at Westbourne House School , Folkestone C1912. Then Moorland House, Heswall C1920. Guildford in 1923 and thence Headmaster of Brandon House, Cheltenham. Henry never lost his love of shooting, winning awards for his efforts. He died in Fifield on the 12th July 1957, aged 67. R.N. 1939/45-Atlantic-Burma (bar Pacific)-Italy Stars. 1939/45 War Medal (MID) and GV1 Long Service Good Conduct Medal, named to K.59842 J B Caswell. Ch.Sto. HMS Titania. Joining C1922/3 James Bates Caswell was awarded a Naval LSGC medal whilst serving on HMS Titania in November 1937 (15yrs). Also awarded an MID emblem with Admiralty Certificate. 'Honours & Awards' Branch. The enclose Bronze Oak Leaf Emblem granted to those awarded a Mention in Despatches, etc HMS Titania a Submarine Depot Ship in WW1 also served on the China Station as Flagship, prior to WW11. It would appear unlikely that Ch Stoker Caswell stayed on HMS Titania, taking into account his medal combination. Also a silver HMS Benbow sporting medallion, dated 1923-24 'Winners P o S F B' obverse, J B Caswell engraved reverse. The two ribbon bar MID emblems are loose, as is the Pacific bar.
AN OFFICERS TRIO TO A SUSSEX CRICKETER. A 1914 Star named to Lt K Harding RFA. British War & Victory Medals named to Lt K Harding. Born in London 12th February 1892, at 45 St Johns Park, Blackheath , London. He was commissioned served in the London into the RFA in August 1914. He served with the 8th London Howitzer Brigade (Woolwich). Part of the 56th Division. Awarded a Silver Wound Badge 341996 after suffering a partial loss of one hand. A Londoner who was commissioned in August 1914 and was awarded a 1914/15 Star Trio. T/Lt 23/8/1915/ Lt 1/6/16. His medal address was given as 42 Hardy Road, Blackheath, SE3. His SWB address given as Pier Pavilion, Penarth, S Glamorgan. A member of the St Edwards School Oxford Cricket X1, who lost part of his hand in WW1. Despite this handicap he made so many runs for Eastbourne that in 1928, he played three matches for Sussex. His highest score was against Essex, 55 not out. He died on November 30th 1977, aged 85.

He was hospitalised after serving for 1yr 9 months with the Field Force in April 1917, suffering from 'Inflammation of connective tissue feet'. 10 days on the Hospital Ship Warilda. Whilst serving in the 12th Battalion KRRC. Aged 24 yrs.
A SAXONY CAVALRY GUARD SWORD. A W K & Co made Saxony Cavalry Officers Guard sword, complete with a steel plated scabbard. A pipe-back partially gilt decorated blade, with crests and AR cypher of 33" length. The hilt of gilt over three bar, one with crest inset and lions head pommel. See Illustration

Entitled to a 2nd Class Russian Order of St Anne. Awarded whilst serving with the 6th Battalion HLI, with both OBE and MID for Archangel 3/2/1920. Lieutenant Colonel William Alexander Kininmouth Murray was awarded the OBE 3/2/1920 page 1374. For valuable services rendered in connection with military operations in Archangel. North Russia dated 11/11/1919. 6th HLI attached MGC. MID 3/2/1920 page 1382 Valuable and distinguished service rendered in connection with the operations in North Russia during the period 25th march to the 26th September 1919. 11/11/1919 MGC , Murray Temp Major W A K 6th HLI T/F. 2/Lt 1/12/1913 Lt 10/9/1914 T/Cpt 14/7/1915 Cpt 21/7/1915 Major 1/6/1916 T/Lt-Col 5/5/1939 Lt Col 24/8/1939 He died at Elgin in his 90th year, the husband of Shona and father of Alec Murray.
