2004 MG TFReg. no. WN04 FZBChassis no. SARRDWBKC4D628814Engine no. 18K4FP27126446Reviving the name used for the TF Midget in the 1950s, MG launched the new TF in 2002. An updated version of the F that had been in production since 1995, it was actually quite different from that car; the main change was the abandonment of the Hydragas suspension setup in favour of conventional, more reliable coil springs. The body was now 20% stiffer than before, and revised intakes and camshafts meant the 1.6 or 1.8 K-Series engines produced more power. Cosmetic changes brought the appearance into the 21st century, and more into line with the rest of MG-Rover’s range. With good performance and handling, plus a somewhat surprising 4-star Euro NCAP safety rating, the TF was a popular model, selling just over 39,000 units until 2005, when MG-Rover’s crippling financial problems finally ended with the company’s sad demise. This 2004 TF 1.8, with the 5-speed manual gearbox, is in good all-round condition, and comes with an MOT until May next year, plus a V5C.
