K G. K T. 4th November 1927' and subsequently given by the Prince to his long term mistress Mrs Freda Dudley Ward and inscribed to the inner watch frame 'F D Oct 1927'. The circular gold dial with Arabic numerals and outer minute track, blue steel hands, ultra thin eighteen jewel movement, signed - Stablis Watch Co, hidden within gold £5 piece with concealed release button in edge milling of coin, 35mm diameter. The Prince met Freda Dudley Ward in 1918 and had an eighteen year affair with her until the arrival of Wallis Simpson in 1934. The coin watch obviously made an impression on him as he bought his other great love Wallis Simpson a very similar £5 gold coin watch from Cartier which was sold by Sotheby's in 2010 for £27,500
