Parandekar) initially trained under his father, a Sanskrit Pandit and painter and continued with formal study at the Sir J.J. School of Art, Bombay from 1900 until 1905. Abalall Rahiman, the court painter of Kolhapur State, was a strong influence on Parandekar's work and he gained considerable expertise in drawing portraits and figures. His landscapes of the ghats of Nashik and the Mahalaxmi Temple, Kolhapur were greatly admired by critics and collectors. He secured the patronage of Lord Willingdon, the then Governor of Bombay, as well as the Maharaja of Patalia who commissioned Parandekar to paint several projects. He played an important role in the foundation of the Art Society of India and was the first member (1918). He also served as the Secretary of the Archaeological Survey of India from 1920 - 1930. Known exhibitions include: 1932 Bombay Art Society, Bombay and Simla Art Society, Simla. 2003 "Manifestations I" at Delhi Art Gallery, Mumbai and New Delhi. 2004 "Manifestations II" at Bombay Art Gallery, Delhi and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. 2005 "Manifestations III" Delhi Art Gallery, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi Nehru Centre, Mumbai. M.K Parandekar's work is recorded in numerous collections within India including: The Palace of Bikaner, The Royal Family of Cooch Bihar, Aundh Museum (Aundh), Sangli Museum (Maharashtra), The Philadelphia Consul and Delhi Art Gallery. Western auction records detail only one of M.K Parandekar's pictures having appeared at auction in recent years. This was a small untitled watercolour of the Golden Temple, Amritsa which featured in Christie's (New York) auction of 20th March 2020 lot 22 and sold for US$10,000 (premium).

Gerald Coulson Quartet unusually signed by 6 RAF Battle of Britain Aircrew. When originally published Quartet was only signed by the artist, Gerald Coulson and this print is from the original Limited Edition number 270 850 published in 1992. However, this particular print has benefited greatly by being additionally autographed by 6 well known RAF Battle of Britain Aircrew and is supplied with an Artistic Flight Certificate of Authenticity confirming the additional signatures as being R A McGowan 46 Sqd, Tony Pickering 501 Sqd, Keith Aldridge 501 Sqd, Alan Burdekin 600 Sqn, W T Clark 219 Sqn and Albert Gregory 219 Sqn. Quartet is an attractive print showing a classic view of a formation of Fighter Command Spitfires on patrol and the addition of the signatures in an attractive well-spaced manner has transformed a fairly standard print into something a bit special. The print measures approximately 19 inches x 15.5 inches and has been stored flat, out of the light and is in very good condition. Print historical detail: The inspiration for this subject was principally the setting. A low sun turning the tops of towering cumulus to a soft ochre against a backdrop of azure. Through breaks in these massive clouds can be seen a landscape beginning to fade, greens and yellows changing to liquid blues and mauves. All that is now required to complete the picture are the lines of a beautiful aeroplane, provided here by four Spitfires on No.66 Sqn. The aircraft shown are LZ M, LZ N, LZ K and LZ X. RARE Gil Cohen Gentleman, as you were Dowding at Hornchurch 1940 signed by an incredible 23 RAF Battle of Britain veterans. When originally issued in 2008 this print was one of the Limited Edition number 44 275 and is supplied with the original Vector Fine Art Prints Certificate of Authenticity. Originally the print was signed by the artist, Gil Cohen, and three distinguished Spitfire Battle of Britain pilots, Wing Commander Peter Olver DFC, Squadron Leader Peter Brown AFC and Wing Commander E B B Smith DFC. However, this particular print has benefited greatly by being additionally autographed by 20 other extremely well known RAF Battle of Britain veterans giving an incredible 23 in total. These additional autographs were added during a signing event organised by Vector Fine Art Prints and The Battle of Britain Fighter Association at RAF Bentley Priory on the 13th of April 2008. WW2 Luftwaffe RAF multi signed cover including Luftwaffe Fighter Ace Ulrich Steinhilper (1918 2009). He made numerous attempts to escape after he was shot down and captured. As a post war IBM typewriter salesman, he was an early proponent of word processing, considered by some to have either coined the phrase or even originated the concept, WAAF Chris Hearn MM, she was a radio operator awarded the Military Medal in 1940 for courage and devotion to duty during an air raid on Poling AME Station, Group Captain W S O Bill Randle, RAF who avoided capture after being forced to bail out of his crippled Wellington bomber over Belgium, and with the aid of the Comet Escape Line travelled through France to cross the Pyrenees into Spain, P/O K C Edwards 600 Squadron RAF Battle of Britain. He was flying as a gunner in Wellington R1495 JN B when it was shot down over Hamburg on 16th July 1941. He was the only crew member able to bale out and he was sent to Stalag Luft III, Sergeant Bill Hodds No. 25 Squadron RAF Battle of Britain Joining the RAF in November 1939. Posted to 25 Sqn, Flying for a very short time before being posted to Burma on ground radars where he spent the rest of the war and 1 other unidentified signature possibly Luftwaffe (top left). All signed on an International Air Fair Biggin Hill 6/7 June 1987 Fleet Air Arm cover, flown in the veteran amphibian Grumman Widgeon G44A. Good condition.
