The Golfer's Catechism A Vade Mecum to the Rules of Golf Browning, Robert H K published by H O Quinn, Ltd, London, UK, 1935. Illustrated 88 pages. The first book designed to explain the most common rules by way of official answers to queries to the R & A Rules Committee. Editor Browning writes in the introduction that with thirty years' experience, he believes "the problems he has set in this Catechism are in his opinion of sufficient range to meet the requirements of the average golfer in all stages of play." The 117 questions, selected from about 350 questions in the latest Decisions of the Rules book, are on the verso, the recto a blank ruled page for the reader's opinion. The correct answers to all questions are in the rear of the book for the reader's edification. When first sold, the Answer section, p. 53 to p.74, was closed with a small paper label, meant to be split by the reader after he wrote down his answers. The label halves are still present

A WORLD WAR TWO SAS CASUALTY SET OF MEDALS, attributed to 5572359 Corporal K. Bateman SAS, the medals comprising of a France and Germany Star, 1939-1945 Star, 1939-1945 War Medal, Defence Medal, Africa Star and Italy Star, displayed in a gold painted frame along with his 8th Army bar and named plaque, come with correspondence from the 1940's with the War Office and the 2000's with the Ministry of Defence, Corporal Bateman was serving with B Squadron of the Special Air Services (SAS) during WWII and was parachuted into occupied France just hours before the D-Day Landings on June 6th 1944, the SAS was helped by the French Resistance fighters and their main objective was to prevent fuel supplies reaching the 2nd Panzer Division, the group of SAS had successfully managed to sabotage the train lines many times during Operation Bulbasket and managed to obtain the whereabouts of a large supply of fuel that was due to arrive where the RAF managed to destroy that supply, the whereabouts and location of the SAS squadron was discovered by German soldiers across a number of days, 33 men from allied forces including many from the from the SAS, Corporal Bateman and his comrades was taken prisoner and executed in a nearby woods along with a USAAF P-51 pilot and seven French Resistance, three further SAS Soldiers who were injured and taken to hospital were later executed by lethal injection, two photos of Corporal Bateman are included along with printed information and entitlement slip in the modern white paper, picture of three, Bateman stands centre, original ephemera and a book about Operation Bulbasket, where he is mentioned on several occasions and various newspaper cuttings, we have recieved email confirmation via the vendor from DBS Medals MOD that the medals were issued on the 2nd Decemeber 2003

Set with a channel of approximately 55, 1mm claw set round brilliant cut diamonds. Size K. Gross weight approximately 2.64 grams. Including Tiffany & Co velvet case, within a tiffany blue outer box. Together with an auction purchase receipt from February 2024 and a valuation report from "The Watch & Diamond Certificate" in January 2024, giving a retail replacement value for Insurance of £3,950. Condition report: Overall good condition, no distinct areas of damage. All stones appear in good order and appear secure.
