Unusual Signed English Basket Hilt Backsword c.1750, straight single edge blade cut with a single fuller, iron basket hilt deeply struck with maker’s name GROVES, basket comprising bars with chamfered edges, squared intersections, pair of loops, bun-shaped pommel, spiral carved wooden grip retaining one woven brass turk’s head. Blade 71cms, overall 86cms. Quite good condition, moderate even pitting overall, an untouched sword from a damp environment. Samuel Groves, hilt maker of Birmingham. Rare U.S. Civil War Period Artillery Mans Sidearm, swollen single edge blade stamped S&K 1858 (for Schnitzler and Kirshbaum), regulation brass hilt deeply stamped with issue markings under one quillon ‘R 488 1859’ together with K.G in smaller letters. Blade 49cms, overall 63cms. Good condition with excellent age patina, some age wear overall. Possibly Confederate issue.
WW2 British Empire Medal Awarded to Chief Stoker William John Miller Royal Navy, For Saving a Merchant Vessel from Destruction After Leading a Fire-Fighting Party from his Ship HMS Swale, British Empire Medal (Military), awarded to “CH. STO. WILLIAM. J. MILLER. P/K.60891 RN.” Accompanied by original red cardboard box of issue. Remains in good overall condition. The British Empire Medal (B.E.M) appeared in the London Gazette, 25 February 1944; “For courage, skill and devotion to duty in charge of a fire-fighting party which saved a merchant vessel from destruction, while serving in HMS Swale”.

An 18ct gold sapphire and diamond ring CONDITION REPORT: The ring is in good condition. It is size P and weighs 3.6g. The central diamond measures approximately 3.35mm by 4.27mm by 2.82mm. The other two diamonds measure approximately 2.47mm by 2.50mm by 2.10mm. The diamonds are of SI2 clarity and J/K colour.
