Charrington of H.M.S. “Alacrity”, and Lieut. R. Hulbert of H.M.S. “ Endymion”, in the firing line, both being worthy of the highest praise.’ Hulbert was later presented with his China medal personally by King Edward VII on 8 March 1902, and specially promoted to Commander for his services in China, 9 November 1903.
