Adams 11001115 R.A. containing a large quantity of World War II Ephemera relating to his service with the 25th East Africa coast Artillery at Fort George Mauritius. The collection includes: Assorted buttons, cap badges and insignia and a combat dog tag all relating to the R.A.; a large quantity of original photographs depicting the Fort George Garrison in full tropical uniform, good quality images of the various landmarks and scenery in Mauritius and many of the native inhabitants, most interestingly a wedding involving walking over hot coals; Letters sent and received to his home in Hereford detailing life during active service and also life in Hereford during the War; Books and Manuals and War-time Publications including `Coast Artillery Drills` and `Health Memoranda for British Soldiers in the Tropics` and a 1944 copy of `Fat George magazine`; a quantity of contemporary packaging including Pears Soap Tin, Anti-Mosquito Cream, Gibbs Shaving Stick and also an unopened Emergency Rations Tin; Everyday items including cutlery shaving kit, belt, two general issue knives etc also souvenirs presumably acquired in Mauritius. *Interestingly an unopened parcel was found in the chest which was found to be a brooch purchased in St Louis presumably for a loved one who never received it. The lot also comes with photograph portrait of R.K.J. Adams in combat dress and also his brother George Adams who served with the RAMC in the middle East
