A 3rd quarter of 18th Century Oak cased 30 Hour Long Case Clock, Leon Weatherad of K Lonsdale, the hood with overhanging cornice to a plain frieze, with inlaid initials TB, over freestanding baluster columns and ogee throat, to quarter round columns flanking a shaped long trunk door, and raised on a plinth base, to a 12” square brass dial with cast and applied mask and foliate spandrels, enclosing a Roman and Arabic chapter ring, with outside track and fleur-de-lys half hour markers, to a matted centre with engraved star and foliate decoration with date sector and pierced steel hands, to a movement with plates united by four knopped pillars and anchor escapement, strike on a bell, height 84”
Smokebox numberplate 32346. Ex LBSCR K class 2-6-0 Locomotive, designed by L.B.Billington and one of a small class of only 17 locos built between 1913 and 1921. All of the class survived into BR ownership and were withdrawn pretty much simultaneously between November and December 1962. Allocated for most of its life at Three Bridges. An excellent chance to acquire a sought after class. It is in as removed condition, with the correct BR(S) triangle cast into the back.
An Inter. Corps Representative Football Match programme featuring the Busby Babes trio of Duncan Edwards, Eddie Coleman and David Pegg, Royal Army Ordnance Corps v Royal Corp of Signals, played at the R.A.O.C. Sports Ground, undated. Duncan Edwards began his compulsory two year stint of National Service after returning from England’s 1955 end of season continental tour. He was allowed to leave his station to play for Manchester United, and played a large number of army games as well. In one season he played nearly 100 matches as a consequence. His Busby Babes team-mates Coleman and Pegg were playing for the opposition, the Royal Corps of Signals, on this day. All of Edwards’s Ordnance Corps team-mates were registered players at Football League clubs, F. Reed (Charlton), R. Morris (Crewe), F. Ball (Coventry), Neale & T Smith & Walmsley (Birmingham), W. Tulip (Newcastle), C. Skinner & K Simcoe (Forest) and F. Kerrigan (Swansea).
