AN ENGLISH DELFTWARE DRUG JAR globular with flared spout and foot, painted in cobalt with a cherub and shell design, the label inscribed in manganese S. CROCI: on a blue tinted glaze, 16cm h, c1750 Crocus Sativus. Saffron, the dried stigmas of the plant were used in the preparation. A slightly earlier example with the same label design is illustrated, Crellin (J K), Medical Ceramics in Wellcome Institute, 1969, plt 47. A good example with a few tiny spots of flaking around the rims and on the foot some fine light scratches
A Rozenburg earthenware vase, circa 1900, painted in an Arts and Crafts palette, incised marks and painted Rozenburg, stork, K (?) in a circle, 42cm CONDITION REPORT: Under UV light areas of restoration to the top rim are apparent. There are also two areas of restoration to foot rim. Small piece of glaze and paint loss to one green roundel. Some crazing.
