Nameplate ANDREW K. McCOSH. Ex Gresley A4 Pacific built Doncaster in August 1937 under Works No 1859 and numbered 4494. Originally named OSPREY, it was renamed in October 1942 after the Director and Chairman of the Locomotive Committee of the Board. In 1946 it was renumbered by the LNER to 596 and very quickly to No 3. Finally, in March 1949 it became BR number 60003. It was a long time Kings Cross and Grantham loco, switching between the two regularly. Withdrawn in December 1962. The plate is in two parts, one being 39.625in x 7.5in the other 47.375in x 7.5in, making the overall measurement is 87in long.
