Lot 523

Fontanini Giusto. Della eloquenza italiana: libri tre... Novellamente ristampati. In Venezia: appresso Cristoforo Zane, 1737. In-4° (mm 220x155). Pagine XXXII, 752 con 2 tavole ripiegate raffiguranti l'Autore ed il Dedicatario. Lievi bruniture e gora al margine superiore delle carte centrali. Legatura coeva in pelle, abrasioni e rotture al dorso. Stampata per la prima volta a Roma nel 1706, questa celebre opera del Fontanini fu più volte ristampata. "Tutta la poetica del F. è legata al concetto di difesa dell'eccellenza degli scrittori italiani e della superiorità della tradizione linguistica nazionale... Egli espresse questi concetti poco dopo, nella prima edizione della sua opera più celebre, la Biblioteca dell'eloquenza italiana (Roma 1706), nota come epistola al conte Orsi sui principi e il progresso della lingua italiana. Con l'aggiunta di una bibliografia ragionata distinta per generi e tipologie discorsive, secondo il modello di K. von Gesner, il F. finì per redigere una specie di indice, molto ricercato dai contemporanei per la facilità della consultazione... Al F. arrivarono per anni suggerimenti per le successive edizioni (cinque, fino alla sua morte, e altre ancora dopo), particolarmente dallo Zeno. Egli si limitò ad accogliere, il più delle volte senza citarne gli autori, solo quelli consoni alle sue tesi, rendendo così il volume sempre più parziale. Al punto che, dopo la morte del F., lo Zeno decise di curarne egli stesso, con l'aiuto di M. Forcellini, un'edizione corretta, che apparve postuma a Venezia nel 1753. Così trasformato, il libro, in cui le note dello Zeno superavano in quantità e qualità il testo fontaniniano, conobbe un secondo successo che si prolungò fino al secolo seguente, quando verrà ancora raccomandato da U. Cartonato coevo con titoli manoscritti al dorso, macchia al piatto posteriore. Al contropiatto posteriore ex-libris 'William Semprini', al dorso numero manoscritto '25', alcuni marginalia. SI AGGIUNGE: Catalogo di commedie italiane. Venezia: nella Stamperia di Modesto Fenzo, 1776. In-12° (mm 200x108). Pagine vi, [2], 179, [1], 28. Stemma calcografico al frontespizio. Esemplare in barbe. Cartonato coevo, titoli manoscritti al dorso, piccoli strappi al dorso. Al verso della sguardia anteriore ex libris di Antonia Suardi Ponti, al contropiatto posteriore altro ex libris 'William Semprini', al dorso due numeri manoscritti di cui uno cassato e altro numero '2511' vergato su tassello cartaceo. I opera: Edizione originale di questo repertorio bibliografico compilato dall'erudito veronese. L'impressione include la Traduzione d'alcune insigni iscrizioni greche e la Notizia del nuovo museo d'iscrizioni in Verona. E paragone delle iscrizioni con medaglie: l'istituzione cui si fa riferimento è il Museo Lapidario di Verona voluto proprio da Maffei nel 1714. II opera: Prima edizione del Catalogo delle commedie in possesso del nobile Giuseppe Tommaso Farsetti - di cui compare lo stemma famigliare al frontespizio (si veda Gelli, Ex-libris italiani, n. 415)  - e compilato sotto la sua assistenza dall'abate Jacopo Morelli (cfr. Melzi, Dizionario di opere anonime e pseudonime I, p. 185). La raccolta del patrizio veronese venne donata, nel 1791, alla Marciana di Venezia. Contiene, con segnatura e numerazione propria, l'Appendice prima, l'unica apparsa. Ottino-Fumagalli, 3897.

Magazzini Vitale. Coltivazione toscana… Nella quale s'insegna quanto deve farsi per coltivare perfettamente le Possessioni, e per governare diligentemente una Casa di Villa secondo l'uso di Toscana. Fiorenza: nella Stamperia Landini, 1634. In-8° (mm 151x103). Pagine [12], 132 (mal numerate 123). Fregio silografico al frontespizio, Testatine, iniziali ornate e finalini incisi su legno. Legatura tardo secentesca in pelle, piatti inquadrati da filetto dorato. Dorso liscio di più recente fattura, con titolo breve in oro su tassello. Labbri dei piatti decorati da ghirlanda in oro, tagli screziati in rosso. Usurati gli angoli al piatto anteriore. Bell'esemplare, alcune fioriture e piccoli aloni ai margini. Piccola lacuna al margine esterno bianco della carta C1, senza perdita di testo. Bruniture alle ultime carte. Al contropiatto anteriore ex libris 'Ex Libris Marchionis Salsae'; al recto della carta di guardia anteriore  ex libris 'Ex Bibliotheca Gastronomica Claudio Benporat'. Al verso del frontespizio due piccoli timbri, il primo circolare in blu ('K') , il secondo rettangolare in rosso ('ΠΟΓΑΩ-[?]ΗΟ), e alcuni numeri in inchiostro violetto. Alcuni tratti marginali a lapis. Seconda edizione - la prima apparve nel 1625 - di una delle prime opere di agricoltura regionale italiana, e i cui destinatari sono - come scrive il frate vallombrosano nel preliminare indirizzo - "i padri di famiglia, & i Ministri, Agenti, Fattori, Governatori, e Maestri di Casa". Nel trattatello Magazzini compendia precetti e istruzioni tratte sia da scrittori classici, sia da "più moderni, & meno antichi", come Pietro Crescenzi (vedi lotti 8 e 153), Luigi Alamanni (vedi lotto 10), e Vittorio Soderini (vedi lotti 43, 51 e 235). Interessanti le osservazioni che riguardano la  coltivazione delle patate in Toscana, e il cui consumo fu introdotto a Firenze prima che nel resto d'Italia, "portate nuovamente quà di Spagna, e Portugallo dalli Reverendi padri Carmelitani scalzi" (p. 19). Pagine 440; [2], 444; 468; [2], 476; [2], 470; [2], 488. Ritratto calcografico dell'Autore in antiporta del tomo I siglato 'Mantelli. del. sculp', marca tipopgrafica insica su rame ai frontespizi. Alcune arrossature, lavori di tarlo solo minimamente lesivi del testo ai fascicoli K-L del tomo III. Legatura coeva in mezza pelle con punte, carta marmorizzata ai piatti, fregi e titoli in oro su tassello al dorso a 5 nervi, tagli spruzzati in rosso, abrasioni agli angoli e ai piatti. Edizione composita, parzialmente originale, di questo poema satirico di Giancarlo Passironi, la cui stesura iniziò già prima del 1743. Il tomo I è in prima edizione, così come i tomi III-VI, mentre in terza impressione è il tomo II. Sull'opera, in cui l'Autore utilizza la biografia di Marco Tullio Cicerone per una serie di divagazioni, ironiche e spesso con intenti edificanti, sui costumi del suo tempo, si veda il contributo di C. Bertoni, Poema, gazzetta, romanzo: «Il Cicerone» di Giancarlo Passironi, in Tempo e memoria: studi in ricordo di Giancarlo Mazzacurati, a cura di M. Palumbo e A. Saccone, Napoli 2000, pp. 187-221.
