An antique 18ct gold pearl and diamond ring CONDITION REPORT: The ring is in good condition. The pearl is 6.1mm in diameter. The old cut diamonds are 4.6mm in diameter. The diamonds are roughly J/K in colour and VS1/VS2 in clarity. The small diamonds on the shoulders are roughly I2 clarity. Ring size N.

Statue de bouddha en pierre noire de Chine à traces de polychromie, debout sur un socle en forme de fleur de lotus, la main droite en abhaya-mudra, signe d'apaisement et la main gauche en vara-mudra, signe de don. Calcaire gris avec traces de pigments de couleur et traces de feuilles d'or. Style de la Dynastie des Qi du nord (550-577) H. 130 cm La beauté de ces pièces montre le lien entre la culture indienne et la culture chinoise. Est révélée dans ces sculptures la transition entre le style statique, indigène de la dynastie Wei et le traitement plus naturaliste de la forme humaine des chefs nomades des Qi du Nord qui prisaient la culture indienne. Abe, "Artibus Asiae" "Return of the Buddha: The Qingzhou Discoveries by Lukas Nickel " Vol. 62, No. 2 (2002), pp. 293-299 En octobre 1996, un puits rempli de sculptures bouddhistes du 6e au 12e siècle a été découvert à Qingzhou dans la province du Shandong lors de la construction d'un terrain de sport pour une école locale. 188 têtes et env. 200 torses ont été exhumés en une dizaine de jours et déposés dans les salles du musée municipal local. Le puits fut divisé en 9 sections d'égales dimensions et les zones fures examinées l'une après l'autre. Aucun relevé stratigraphique ne fut tenu, aucune archive ne fut conservée ni aucune photographie ne fut prise lors de l'excavation de ces pièces. On rapporte que la fosse était à 1.5 mètre de profondeur et profonde de env. 2 mètres, que les statues étaient déposées en couches, que les pièces les mieux conservées étaient au centre au milieu de fragments et que les petites étaient appuyées contre les murs de la fosse. Au fond du puits, un bol des Song du nord et 119 pièces de monnaies ont été retrouvés. Une fosse remplie de sculptures qui ont 4 à 500 ans d'écart. Il a été suggéré que la démolition de ces statues est l'œuvre de l'Empereur WU de de la Dynastie de Zhou du Nord qui voulait éradiquer le bouddhisme. C'est seulement au milieu XIIe siècle que ces fragments de statues endommagées furent correctement enterrés dans ce puits. Comment se fait-il donc qu'un nombre si important de fragments furent conservés pendant de si nombreux siècles? Les icônes de Bouddha sont considérées comme des incarnations de Bouddha, et comme ces fragments étaient vus comme des reliques de Bouddha et emplies de pouvoir spirituel, il y avait là suffisamment pour les chérir et les préserver. Certains sutras ont même suggéré que ces fragments de statues cassées seront rassemblés lors d'une période de paix et de prospérité.
