For further information on Ray Goddard and the collection see lot 144.Laurentis was a French-bred bay colt foaled in 1943 by Deiri out of Laurentia (Salmon Trout).The stayer was owned by Mr H K Frost and trained by at the Woodway Stables in Blewbury, Oxfordshire, by Gordon Johnson Houghton. The colt’s biggest win came in the Jockey Club Cup in 1947.

He was owned by K Abdullah and trained at Pulborough by Guy Harwood.Dancing Brave was the outstanding European racehorse of 1986.The win in the Arc was his fourth G1 victory, having previously won the 2,000 Guineas, the Eclipse Stakes and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes. A diamond three stone ring, the graduated round brilliant-cut diamonds in claw setting, white precious metal mounted, indistinctly stamped 'PLAT', principal diamond weight approximately 0.55ct, total diamond weight approximately 1.20ct, ring size ODiamonds are fairly well matched, relatively bright and lively, but contain fracture and mineral inclusions, with estimated SI2 to P1 clarity and I to K colour, assessed mounted. Consderable wear to mount, solder joins at shoulders suggesting that either the setting or shank may be later replaced. Claws are worn and some of the claws have been re-tipped, having solder joins to the sides. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 3.5gm.

Considerable wear to mount, inscription to interior is heavily rubbed, shank has yellowish discolouration. Setting has been re-tipped, with solder joins and associated porosity visible to sides. Principal diamond measurements approx. 5.7mm diameter x 3.15mm depth. Shoulder set diamonds are variable, some with chips/fractures. Ring mount has general surface wear, commensurate for use, with yellowish sizing solder joins to shank and further solder joins to base of setting. Metal standard is untested.
