WW2 POW incredible typed unpublished account of the horrors inside a Japanese POW camp by WW2 inmate Don Allen. Only 11 of the 84 captured survived and this is the story. Titled Delivered from Evil, it is over 120 pages detailing his experiences from leaving the UK to Malaya. With detailed accounts of the fighting prior to capture and the harrowing accounts of cruelty by the Japanese and his final release and return home. The book was considered too graphic to publish as written and Don refused to let it be changed, so it has never been seen. This was given to his friend and 617 sqn historian Jim Shortland. The Foreword by POW K Crooks starts Don Allen writes of his experiences with much emotion, and candour, as one who spent periods of this part of his life with him (in POW camp), when hopes reached the heights, and despair the depths, It amazes me that he can recall so much of it with such remarkable clarity, he was in the Prison Camp our hut leader.....I owe him my life, as did a few more, to say that out of 84 men only 11 of us got back home was certainly not his fault, starvation, Hard Work, and brutality, torture etc were the causes. The dedication begins This book is not about everyday life, nor flying, it is just one man's fight to survive against terrible adversity, namely barbaric cruelty, disease and starvation. A most humbling read and a unique insight into the horrors of war. Good Condition. All autographs are genuine hand signed and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. We combine postage on multiple winning lots and can ship worldwide. UK postage from £4.99, EU from £6.99, Rest of World from £8.99.
