It has received sporty interior and bodywork modifications during its life, some of which have now been removed. The mileage recorded by the odometer is 131,123. The V5 is present, but there is no other paperwork. We're advised that among the upgrades are: Engine: 1.4-litre SR, with fast-road cams, K&N filter and PowerFlex polyflex front and rear bushes. The exhaust is a Milltek full SS system from the manifold back. Brakes and suspension: Willwood four-piston 288mm front system and Spax front and rear adjustable shocks. Body: Original GSI wings, lights, doors, grill, and front and rear bumpers. The paint is a Glasurit base and top coat in Custom Pearl, a BMW colour. 1999 Rover 200 BRMMake: Rover Model: 200 BRMYear: 1999Mileage: 30400VIN: SARRFCNLHXD435146Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: V646DJMTransmission: manualThe Rover 200 BRM was unveiled at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show, and went on sale from October 1998. It paid homage to Rover's links with British Racing Motors, the Formula One team of the 1950s to the 1970s, and was based on the range-topping Vi model with the 143bhp 1.8-litre VVC K-Series engine. Among the limited edition touches were red quilted leather seats and door panels, red carpet, seat belts and steering wheel, along with alloy heater controls and turned aluminium trim elsewhere. Brooklands Green paint was used for the exterior, with silver trim details, 16in alloys, and a woven mesh grille above a BRM trademark large orange snout. The price was £18,000, with only 795 built for the UK, plus an additional 350 for overseas markets. This car's first owner had it from 1999 to 2000, with its second custodian holding onto it from 2000 through to early 2021. The vendor acquired it at the start of 2021, and reports that in excess of £1600 was spent in April, replacing the head gasket (with a multi-layer item), timing belt and water pump, with fresh brake pads and calipers also fitted all around. The paperwork includes the current V5 (and a copy of an old one), invoice for the work carried out in April, and a current MoT certificate valid to April 2022. There's also a spare set of keys with remote control, and the locking wheelnut key. The indicated odometer reading is 30,400 miles, which appears to be backed up by the available online MoT history - in 2006, the mileage was 16,952.

Charles I Mourning Ring. Circa 17th century AD. Gold, 4.5 grams, ring size K. An exceptional piece of mourning jewellery made in memory of Charles I. The ring is formed of a D-sectioned band and oval bezel. The band with areas of black enamel intact and engraved on the inside with the verse, 'Martye populi' (peoples martyr). The bezel has a beautifully executed enamel portrait of Charles I on a lilac ground, the underside has a small skull and the date, Jan. 30 1648 on a field of black enamel. The ring is part of a series of mourning jewellery which was made to commemorate the death of Charles after he was beheaded. Some of these pieces were commissioned by Charles himself whilst awaiting his death, to be given to loved ones and loyal supporters, and it is known that he divided his personal jewels amongst his children when they paid him their final visit. The tiny portrait on the bezel, skilfully hand painted in enamel, was almost certainly copied from Charles I with M. de St. Antoine by Flemish artist Anthony van Dyck (1633). This masterpiece of oil on canvas depicts Charles I as a knight on horseback, wearing gleaming armour. Over 12 feet tall, it remains in the Royal Collection and currently hangs in Buckingham Palace. During the 17th century the new year began in March, December 1648 was followed by January 1648, and many contemporary memorials (including his coffin) record the date of Charles’ death as 1648.
