FIGURENGRUPPE "DIE ZEIT HEBT DIE WAHRHEIT"Historismus, Deutschland Ende 19. Jh.Elfenbein vollrund geschnitten. Die beiden Figuren integral geschnitten auf einem Wolkensockel mit zwei Engeln und einem Putto. Auf dunkel gebeiztem Holzsockel.H 52 cm.Variantenreich bespielten die Künstler der Renaissance und des Barocks den allegorischen Topos von Zeit und Wahrheit. In Anlehnung an jene Vorbilder, zitiert die vorliegende Arbeit die Ikonographie des Chronos als greisen, geflügelten Mannes, der die Allegorie der Wahrheit in Form einer jungen, weiblichen Schönheit hebt. Sinngemäss veranschaulicht diese Figurenkonstellation die Interdependenz zwischen Zeit und Wahrheit. Ein lateinisches Sprichwort bringt diese gegenseitige Abhängigkeit auf den Punkt: "Veritas filia temporis" (Die Wahrheit (ist) eine Tochter der Zeit), was so viel bedeutet wie "mit der Zeit kommt die Wahrheit ans Licht".Als freies, künstlerisches Vorbild für die Komposition und Bildfindung unserer Arbeit könnte wohl eine Figurengruppe aus dem dänischen Nationalmuseum in Kopenhagen gedient haben (Inv.: Nationalmuseet, Frederiksholms Kanal 12, DK-1220 KA¸benhavn K.). Deren Elfenbeinskulptur, welche ebenfalls die Allegorie der Zeit und der Wahrheit illustriert, wird dem Künstlerkreis von Joachim Henne (aktiv ca. 1663-1707) zugeschrieben.
