A RARE PAIR OF CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER RECTANGULAR PANELSQianlongOne carved in relief depicting Su Dongpo and his guests on a boat cruising past the Red Cliff, the other panel depicting Wang Xizhi in the Orchid Pavilion, with cups of wine floating down the stream before him, amidst bamboo and gnarled rocks, both set within wood frames inlaid with metal wire.
