Lot 1320

A late 19th century oak octagonal wine cooler, with arched panels, turned column, shaped base and bun feet. Width 68 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The wine cooler is in structurally good condition with no significant problems. The top is flat and not warped. The rear edge moulding above the left hand hinge has a small loss to the corner. The top has a moulded edge and crossbanding. The rear section of crossbanding has a small ½ cm square veneer loss. The hinges appear to be original and fit as they should. They are not loose. There is however stress fractures to the wooden panel at the rear of the piece below the hinges probably caused by the top being allowed to fall open unsupported. As a result of this there is movement at the top joint in front of the hinge visible from the interior. The interior itself is in generally good condition, however the supporting stay to the lid is missing. The lock and lock plate are present but we do not have a key. All panels have old stress cracks to the surface veneers and one panel has a small veneer loss to the bottom left hand corner. The centre column is in good condition as is the base which has its original feet and castors.
