Van der Aa, 1685. *** First published in Paris in 1684 and often attributed to Nicolas Lémery (1645-1715), author of Recueil des plus beaux secrets de medecine... comme aussi plusieurs secrets curieux sur d`admirables effets de la nature & de l`art, 1694. There are chapters of recipes, on wine, vinegars and conserving flowers, fruits etc.; the many other subjects include medical cures (a substantial section), fireworks, perfume and cosmetics. Arthur Benomi Evans (1781-1854, "The Bold Arthur"), miscellaneous writer, poet, composer & musician, linguist, and collector of coins. He was appointed professor of classics and history to the Royal Military College in 1805..
