Lalique wine goblets in the ‘Pouilly’ pattern, all having a plain circular foot set with a flared cylindrical bowl decorated to the bottom edge with a band of relief moulded stylised leaping fish picked out in a pale blue stain over the frosted ground, bears full acid signature, height 4.5'. Four sealed dated wine bottles late 18th Century each of dark olive-green tint applied with a moulded circular seal on the shoulder inscribed with: I. Brock/1786. G. Mayo /1787 Ja's Oakes Bury /1788 and Jn0 Bathe/1788 all with kick-in base. 23cm. to 28.5cm. 9in. to 11.25in. the last with repair to shoulder (4) The first two seals and the last appear to be unrecorded in the literature. James Oakes was said to be a wine-merchant at Bury St.Edmunds Suffolk and a number of bottles bear his name dating from 1735 to 1795.
