ZIMMERMANN LIPOT 1937 TOKAJI ASZU 5 PUTTONOS HUNGARIAN DESSERT WINE No stated ABV / Approx 50cl Zimmermann Lipot rose to prominence in the 19th and early 20th century, with their award winning dessert wines finding favour among connoisseurs the world over. However, in 1944, disaster struck when the Nazi occupation of Hungary resulted in nearly half a million Hungarian Jews, including the Zimmermann family, being sent to concentration camps. This unimaginable humanitarian tragedy spelled the end of the brand, and their vineyards fell into disrepair. It wasn't until 1990, following the fall of the Soviet Union, that private investor bought the land and founded Royal Tokaji Wine Company, who's headquarters occupy the Zimmerman's former home in the town of Mád. This wonderful 1937 vintage Tokaji from Zimmermann Lipot isn't just a exquisite wine, it's a piece of history.
