PAIR OF FAMILLE NOIRE HEXAGONAL WINE CUPS, KANGXI PERIOD, painted with ogee-topped panels of birds and flowers, 8.6cm high Provenance: Sotheby's London, 19th April 2000 (ex. Michael Gillingham). Exhibited: One cup exhibited in The World in Colours, Oriental Ceramic Society Exhibition, 2006, no.171. Note: a near-identical pair of cups is extant in the Taft Collection (P.664.1931.2.4). Also see Christie's Amsterdam, 20-21st November 2007, lot 153 for a pair of similar (though not hexagonal) cups.
