Über ausgestelltem Rundfuß birnförmig ansteigender Korpus mit geschweiftem, in ausgezogenen Ausguss übergehenden Rand. Seitlich ohrenförmiger Henkel mit plastischer, weiblicher Büste. Der Deckel in Form einer reliefierten Muschel, mittig hochgezogener Rocailleknauf. Auf der Wandung umlaufende, mythologische Darstellung im Relief. Inmitten einer Wasserlandschaft der von zwei Schwänen gezogene Muschelwagen, darin sitzende Göttin Venus mit Amor, in ihrer erhobenen, rechten Hand ein wehendes Tuch haltend. Begleitend verschiedene Tritonen, Delphine und ein sich, zwischen bewegten Wellen aufbäumender Hippokamp. Der untere, wellenartig gerippte Wandungsansatz mit frontseitigem Allianzwappen von Heinrich Graf von Brühl und seiner Gemahlin Franziska von Kolowrat-Krakowsky, umgeben von Indianischen Blumenzweigen und gestreuten Blüten. Korrespondierender Streublumendekor auf dem Deckel. Polychrome Malerei im Kakiemonstil (etwas später). Gekämmte Goldkante. Goldstaffage. Wellig gerandete Deckelmontierung aus Silber mit Muschelrelief und blattförmig aufsteigender Daumenrast. Entw. Johann Joachim Kaendler und Mitarbeiter, 1737 - 1741. Schwertermarke. Meissen. Mitte 18. Jh.; H. 24,5 cm. Das ursprünglich über 2000 Teile umfassende Tafelservice, sog. "Schwanenservice", das Heinrich Graf von Brühl, späterer Premierminister von August III., 1736 in Auftrag gab, ist das umfangreichste, in der plastischen Gestaltung das prächtigste Porzellanservice des 18. Jhs. und ein zentrales Werk der Meissener Porzellankunst. Charakteristisch ist der muschel- und wellenförmige Reliefdekor mit einem, zwischen Schilf schwimmenden Schwanenpaar unweit eines stehenden und fliegenden Reihers sowie die aufwendige Gestaltung von Deckelbekrönungen, Handhaben und Füßen in Form von vollplastischen Figuren aus der mythologischen Meereswelt. Es existieren zahlreiche Varietäten des Schwanenservice-Dekors, darunter die Gestaltung an der vorliegenden Ausformung aus dem 18. Jh. Vgl. A George III style partners desk, 79 x 151 x 81cmProvenance:Collection of Barry Lock (1934 - 2021) Morpeth Mansions, Westminster, SW162.5cm high x 56.5cm wide knee hole. It splits into three pieces for transport, the top and the two pedestals. All drawers have void interiors. There is a key present but some locks don't work, there are signs of damage where they have been forced in the past. Scratches, nicks, dents and gouges commensrate with age and use. Some beading around the drawers has been damaged and some replaced. leather has staining, surface dirt and dents. The leather looks as if wine bottles have been left on it over time, leaving a series of marks across the surface.
