Attractive Shahsavan flatwoven panel, in weft-float brocade and supplementary weft wrapping, north west Persia or south Caucasus, second half 19th century, 4ft.5in. x 4ft.3in. 1.35m. x 1.30m. Approximately six holes, mostly very small, sides missing. An old Shahsavan weaving with a very beautiful palette - wine red, purple-brown, purple, light tan, dark brown, turquoise, mid blue, dark blue, yellow, ivory.
A Victorian silver wine goblet, the bowl engraved a crest of a wounded boar within a garter motto, the interior gilded, on a spreading stem foot inscribed with a presentation inscription Henry W. Peek M. P. to Charles E. Pollock Esq Q. C. in remembrance of Wimbledon Common Associations 1871. 6 1/2 in. (16.5cm). Maker Richard Sibley. Retailed by Thomas, New Bond Street London 1871. 8oz. * This refers to two of the founder members of the Wimbledon Common Ramblers Association which still exists today.
A Louis XVI silver wine taster, the bowl inset a silver five ecu piece of 1779, the sides applied Fleur de Lys and hearts, inscribed AMOUR VALEUR DÉVOUEMENT AFFECTION, the rim with owners name and date 1781, the ring handle capped by a flaming heart engraved crossed trophies of a bow and a sheaf of arrows and a flaming torch, flanked by pierced scrolling foliage.
