JOHANNES GRENNES (Norwegian, 1875-1963); a pair of early 20th century oils on canvas, portrait studies of Mr & Mrs Christensen, the husband the owner of M.Simoni, wine merchant, Aalborg, Denmark, the first depicting the husband wearing a blue suit writing at a work desk, the second depicting the wife wearing a fur ruff in formal upright pose, signed to lower right and left respectively, the first 42 x 48cm, the second 53 x 45cm, both framed, also with a further oil on canvas depicting the aforementioned wine merchant's premises by a different artist, indistinctly signed to lower right (3).

Twelve bottles of red wine including Chateau Verdus 'Cru Bourgeois' 1988 75cl 12%, a Baturrica 'Tarragona' 2005 75cl 13%, four bottles of Le Vieux Pigeonnier 'Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion' 2009, etc, also three bottles of Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky in presentation cases and four spirit miniatures. CONDITION REPORT: Surface dirt and wear to labels, all bottles appear to be unopened.
Twenty bottles of predominantly French red wine including Le Pavillon des Remparts Cotes du Roussillon Villages 2000 75cl 12.5%, a Louis Coudenne Claret Bordeaux 2001 75cl 12%, a Chateau Martinens 'Cru Bourgeois' Margaux 2004 75cl, 12.5%, etc. CONDITION REPORT: All appear to be unopened with minimal losses, the Louis Coudenne the most severe, spirit level 20cm.
Nineteen bottles of French red wine and one Swiss white wine including six bottles of Clos Triguedina Cahors 1992 75cl 12.5% (lowest level 22.5cm), three further 1994 examples, two Chateau Treilles Cahors 1989 75cl 12%, etc. CONDITION REPORT: All appear to be unopened, but with some losses, lowest level 19.5cm.
A small quantity of wines comprising Veuve du Vernay, 'Cuvee Extra demi-sec' Champagne, three bottles of Freixenet ' Carta Novada Semi Seco' Cava, a bottle of Tokaji Aszeu 1988 dessert wine, ten bottles of red wine including a Marques De Caro 'Tinto Reserva 1988 'Valencia', a Domainé Si Cotes du Rhone Villages 1996 etc, also a single bottle of white wine and two bottles of mulled wine (non-alcoholic) (18). CONDITION REPORT: Levels generally low to mid neck line.
Four bottles of spirits comprising Bell's 'Finest Old Scotch Whisky' Christmas 1993, 70cl 40%, Drambuie 'Prince Charles Edward's Liqueur' 70cl 40%, a boxed Chivas Regal 'Blended Scotch Whisky Aged 12 Years' 75cl 40% and a Niepoort Colheita Tawny Port 1957 20%, all in wine box reading 'Chateau Vieux Coudelin Saint Estephe 1985' (4). CONDITION REPORT: All four appear to be unopened, surface dirt to bottles and labels, lowest level low-mid neck.

CONDITION REPORT: Surface dirt and wear to bottles and labels, all bottles appear to be unopened but some with minor loss.
An interesting collection of medical bottles including a H Warner Tippecanoe bottle with embossed canoe and bark effect to the sides and mushroom top, a triangular amber coloured 'The Killgerm Co Ltd, Cleckheaton' bottle and open bottle of 'Blood Wine' manufactured by C. Tolkien and Co Ltd, also called Wine of Iron, a collection of small green smelling salt bottles, two large poison bottles and several smaller hexagonal examples, etc.

Note: Tom Hunter is known for making sumptuous, colour-saturated cibachrome prints which illustrate the lives of various groups such as squatters and travellers, among whom the artist lives and works.
