19/20th Century Dutch School Still Life Oil Painting Signed Samel? Lower Right. Depicts a table prepared with fruits and wine. Some craquelure to canvas otherwise good condition. Measures 11-1/2" H x 15-1/2" W, frame measures 17-1/4" H x 21" W. Shipping $115.00 (estimate $200-$300)

Lot 25

Roman, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st century CE. A beautiful and delicate bronze olpe with a foliate handle that flows sinuously down to the mid-body and ends in a leaf motif applied to the side of the vessel. A slightly flared rim with an attached and thickened decorative edge that flows down into the handle gives it a unique look. This is an olpe, with a tall, strap-like handle, and a smooth profile. It has a very broad rim and was made to pour wine - but this one may have been made simply to grace a tomb inside a Roman cemetery. Size: 5.6" W x 7.5" H (14.2 cm x 19 cm) Provenance: Ex-Private Orange County, CA collection Condition: Patina all over body, with a brown/grey thicker patina around the base that probably reflects its deposition conditions, perhaps in soil with a high iron content. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. We ship worldwide and handle all shipping in-house for your convenience. #118227
