7 bottles Louis Metaireau “Black Label” Muscadet Sur Lie 1982 This rare wine was originally only sold by specialised restaurant outlets approved and selected by the Domaine, with just a handful in Northern UK. Some labels decomposed (Tasting note: We were surprised to find that the wine had really withstood its age in bottle. Whilst unlike classic Muscadet it had gently evolved into a complex style reminiscent of apricot and honey but retaining balanced acidity with excellent minerality)
11 bottles Sancerre Rosé Domaine Vacheron “Les Romains” 1989 (Tasting note: We opened a bottle from this hitherto unopened case that had been well cellared. Domaine Vacheron is held in the highest regard. A pale Rosé from 100% old vine Pinot Noir, the wine had surprisingly held on to the classical characteristics of the grape and showed the class of the winemaker, the variety and the exceptional vintage of 1989)
