A PAIR OF SMALL CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE FLYING HORSES WINE CUPS, MING 16TH CENTURY an associated pair of conical-shaped wine cups, with underglaze blue flying horses above clouds decoration. (2) 6cm diameterThe distinguishing characteristics of these delicate, thinly potted cups are their intricate flying horse motifs surrounded by clouds. Notably, a remarkably similar cup can be found in the prestigious Sir Percival David collection at the British Museum, identified as reference PDF, B691. Initially, Sir Percival David believed the cup to be a one-of-a-kind piece dating back to the 15th Century, which was acquired from the Eumorfopoulos collection. However, recent re-evaluation has led to its re-dating, now placing its origin in the 16th Century.

As a designer, he was very influential in the 1960s and 1970s, and in 1969 he designed a tea set for the Prince of Wales’s investiture at Caernarvon Castle.
