Gilbert, 'Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture, 1700 1840', pg. 346-347, figs, 668-672. Note: Established in 1800, Thomas Morgan and Joseph Sanders' cabinet making firm of was one of London's most successful of the early nineteenth century. Specialists in metamorphic and campaign furniture, Morgan and Sanders innovative multi-functional designs were highly sought after by wealthy patrons, including several members of the Royal Family and Lord Nelson. They held numerous patents, and the skilled execution and craftsmanship of their furniture reinforced their standing. Today their pieces, especially the rare item bearing their nameplate, are particularly desirable.
