A Chinese wine cup decorated in iron red with dragons, Qianlong seal mark and of the period (1736-1795) of typical form with deep sides a short foot and a very faintly everted rim, finely decorated in iron red with two five claw dragons in pursuit of the flaming pearl amidst flames with clashing waves below, two concentric circles in underglaze blu above and below, the base with a well drawn six character seal Qianlong seal mark, the paste of the foot and the quality of the decoration indicating a circa date of the period. Iron red dragon decorated wine cups were produced at various times during the nineteenth century. Qianlong examples seem to be more unusual but compare Sotheby s New York 23 March 2010 Lot 20 and Sotheby s New York 15 September 2010 Lot 249. A small Chinese lemon yellow glazed wine cup, Jiaqing mark and probably of the period (1796-1820) delicately potted with tapering sides flaring outwards towards the rim, glazed in a delicate lemon yellow with a very faint speckling effect, the base with a well drawn six character seal mark of the Jiaqing period (1796-1820), the paste of the foot and the quality of the decoration suggesting a date of manufacture during the period." A very fine and rare silver wine vessel and cover, probably Tang dynasty (618-906), 8th/9th century the vessel of globular shape on a short splayed foot with a lid which also has a small foot rim and with a plain swing handle, the whole very finely chased and engraved with engraved with stylised parrots amidst lotus foliage, all reserved against a finely ring-punched ground, the cover similarly decorated; the small splayed foot with a quatrefoil decoration against a ring punched ground."
