A set of twelve George III silver plates, by William Pitts, London 1802, circular form, gadroon border, engraved with an armorial, the reverse of one with a later presentation inscription, ` 48 silver plates with a pair of wine vases presented to William Dickinson Esq who during seven successive Parliaments was one of the Representatives of the County of Somerset by a large body of his late Constituents as a tribute of their sincere respect and esteem 1833`, diameter 25.5cm, approx. weight 232oz. (12) ** The arms are those of Dickenson of King Weston, Somerset quartering possibly Brokesby and impaling Carrington. William Dickinson (1771-1837) was the Member of Parliament for Great Marlow 1768-1774, Rye 1777-1790, and Somerset 1806-1831.

An early sealed onion wine bottle of dark olive colour, the bucket shaped body with conical kick up and tapering neck with broad string rim, the shoulder applied with a seal of a family crest in the form of a peacock above a marquis’s coronet flanked by the initials G.C., 18 cm high, circa. 1680
A pair of Wedgwood sage jasper ware wine and water ewers the shoulders modelled respectively with a satyr grasping the horns of a goat hung with swags of fruiting vine and a triton grasping a dolphin mask hung with swags of water plants above bands of stiff leaves, jewelling and Greek key type designs, set on square bases, each 42 cm high, impressed Wedgwood, Made in England with gold ‘Masterpieces’ backstamp, numbered 12 of an edition of 25, with presentation cases and certificate. **John Flaxman Snr provided Wedgwood with the models of the originals in 1775 which were often entitled Sacred to Bacchus and Sacred to Neptune and were produced in Black Bassalt at 2 guineas and Jasper Ware at 5 guineas.
Pietro Bellotti (Bolzano 1625-1700 Warsaw) Self-portrait of the artist as Laughter, oil on canvas, 54.5 x 45.7 cm (217/16 x 18 in) Literature: Luciano Anelli, Pietro Bellotti 1625-1700, Grafo 1996, pg. 133 (for an illustration of the version in the Pinacoteca de Brera, Milan). Engraved: A version engraved by Antonio Pazzi, preliminary drawning by Giovanni Domenico Campiglia. The present painting is one of a number of autograph versions of Pietro Bellotti’s Self-portrait as Laughter, each with slight variations. The first of 1658 is in the Pinacoteca de Brera, Milan. A second version is in the Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence, signed and dated March 1658, and a third, dated 1664 was formerly known as being part of the Scheufelen Collection, Stuttgart, this version is the closest in composition to the present painting. The artist depicts himself with a wry smile, holding a glass of wine and a gold chain with a medallion, this gave him the opportunity to display his talents at depicting such objects, it also enables him to portray his success and rewards as an artist.
