A Japanese satsuma wine/tea pot, Meiji Period (1868-1912) The compressed conical form pot, rising from three swept supports, adorned with a short upright spout and twin pierced handle terminals and integrated cover, the two semi-circular external panels painted with bijin and children before a stippled ground, further enamelled in gilt and polychrome with foliate scrolls, 5cm high, unidentified signature.
A Meizan studio Japanese satsuma wine/tea pot, Meiji Period (1868-1912) The compressed cylindrical form body, with sloped sides upper and lower sides, raised on a low circular footring, surmounted by a flat integrated cover and flanked by swept short spout and high loop handle, the exterior sides intricately painted with figures before a riverside scene, detailed with pink blossom trees, further embellished with kidney and fan shaped panels filled with figural scenes, reserved against an ivory crackle glazed ground, 10cm high, feint signature to base. CONDITION REPORT: Extensive rubbing to mark on underside of the base. Scuffing and wear to the foot rim. Free from chips/ cracks/ restoration. Minor scratching to the inside of the teapot. Scuffing and wear to the inside of the rim, no chips.
