A double series opaque twist engraved wine glass, circa 1770, the waisted bell bowl engraved to one side with two birds seated amidst grass, to the other side two birds perched on a branch above a plain stem with a pair of spiral threads outside a central multi-ply corkscrew above a conical foot, height approx 16cm
A suite of glassware, 20th Century, with a band of hobnail decoration above arched facets and star cut bases, comprising eleven red wine glasses, six white wine glasses, nine small tumblers and three large tumblers, together with another part suite of glass, comprising six brandy glasses and seven beakers
Plated wares: Swing handle basket, half fluted coffee pot, two four piece bottle cruets with stands, further cruet stand, cream jug and sugar bowl, sugar sifter, fruit ladle, three soup ladles, pair of sugar tongs, wine funnel, set of cased coffee spoons, further set of spoons and a twin handle bowl, together with a pewter three piece tea set and sundry Danish spoons with enamel terminals.
Southern Railway Silverplate and Oak Wine Cooler. A quite wonderful item based on a barrel design with two silverplate rings and the SR Shipping Flag Crest in between. The inner 'bucket' is removable and shows the makers name of Mappin & Webb on the underside. The wooden bucket is quite exquisitely made using two pieces for the side, each having a shaped handle that mates with its counterpart. Would have been used for ½ bottles of wine.
*GWR. A bone-handled silver-mounted walking stick, the mount engraved and inscribed "Presented to Mr. J. Stacey on his retirement from Great Western Railway Service", 1899, together with a small silver-plated wine-tasting cup, having embossed relief swags of vine-leaves and grapes to upper rim, engraved and with inscribed dedication "Sydney G. Knott - Tasmania - 1908" (2)
