A 1950s Phoenix bicycle, used by the character Marina, from 1984 to the mid 1990s, during the filming of Last of the Summer Wine. The bicycle is signed by a large number of the staff and the crew of the show, to include: Peter Sallis (Cleggy), Brian Wilde (Foggy), Bill Owen (Compo), Ron Moody (Willoughby), Gordon Wharmby (Wesley), Robert Fyfe (Howard), Mike Grady (Barry), Jean Fergusson (Marina) and Alan J W Bell (Producer and Director for approximately 30 years). Also included in this lot are labels tied onto the handle bars signed by: Dame Thora Hird (Edie), Kathy Staff (Nora Batty), Jane Freeman (Ivy) and Juliette Kaplan (Pearl). Provenance: previously the property of Jean Fergusson, the actress who played Marina in Last of the Summer Wine. This lot comes with full written provenance from Miss Fergusson, and with some photographs taken during filming showing the bicycle etc.
India – Sikh History A rare large red wax court seal from the Princely Sikh State of Jind. Thick wax seal with in intact condition depicting Chamunda and the state crest of Jind on one side and Nastal’iq and central script surrounded by Gurmukhi text on the outer edge. Chamunda is closely associated with Kali having four^ eight^ ten or twelve arms^ she is often depicted holding a Damaru (drum)^ trishula (trident)^ sword^ and panapatra (drinking vessel^ wine cup) or skull-cup (kapala) filled with blood. The princely state of Jind was founded in 1763 and its rulers belonged to the Phulkian dynasty. In 1887 Ranbir Singh became maharaja in 1911 and continued to rule the state until its accession to India in 1947. His exact title was “His Highness Farzand-i-dilband Rasikh-ul-itikad Daulat-i-englishia Raja-i-rajgan Maharaja Sir Ranbir Singh Rajendra Bahadur” and this is clearly written on the outer edge in Romanised text circumnavigating the image of Chumunda.1 cm thick and 9.5cm in diameter.
