VICTORIAN ALBUM OF ADVERTISING NOVELTIES: An album compiled in the 1890' s comprising, mounted to both sides of 25 leaves, upwards of 150 chromolitho. advertisements, a number being novelties; together with black & white advertisements, magazine covers, etc. The coloured advertisements include inserts and 20 die-cut shaped advertisements for Suttons Seeds, Suchard, Old Highland Whisky, Paysandu Ox Tongues, Mellin's Cod Liver Oil, Hudson's Soap, etc. Together with 15 'lift-up' advertising novelties including Sunlight Soap ( an opening cupboard revealing calendar for 1897); the Eureka Gas Cooker (opening door revealing cooking meat); Mellin's Food with calendar for 1890; Robinson & Cleaver (die-cut vanity case opening to reveal contents); Vimbos, Globe Polish, Maypole Soap, Monkey Brand Soap, W.H. Dog Biscuits, Peak Frean's Jewell Cakes, Rowntree, etc. Together with two Mellin's booklets Three Blind Mice & The Three Bears and four "mechanical" or "pop-up" novelties for Richmond Gas Cookers (maid with cooker, the scene changing by moving slats when cord is pulled - not tried); Henry Tellon's Superb Gossamer powder (young girl powders elderly General's face when opened); Express Dairy Milk (Milkman at door, when opened a pop-up scene of children with maid is revealed) & Brooke's Soap (a frying pan with movable handle causing monkey to emerge). Oblong folio (15 x 11 inches), boards detached, lacking backstrip, album leaves browned and edge chipped, some leaves loose.

[ALBUM] ALBUM OF ELLEN ADAM 1828. 4to. Contemporary blind-stamped full calf, rubbed and worn, upper cover detached. An interesting Georgian album containing hand written verse and illustrations, many executed by the hand of Ellen Adam, who was clearly an accomplished artist. Illuminated title page, plus 16 illustrated pages, many of which are original designs. These include 9 fine watercolours of flowers and a highly accomplished watercolour view of Athens by A.G. [?]. One page with repaired tear, finger soiling, damp stain to rear endpaper, later pencil scribbling on blank leaves at end.

A Waring & Gillow mahogany breakfront sideboard, the raised back centred by acanthus leaf carved scrolling cartouche, flanked by blind fret panels, the edge carved with paterae and ribbon motifs, fitted a single drawer decorated with blind fret panels and applied carved fruit and swags with turned and carved handles, flanked by a pair of ornate fielded panelled doors, decorated with applied leaf pattern and scrolling motifs, raised on chamfered square legs and block feet, the drawer stamped Waring & Gillow Limited, 83 1/2in. x 48in. high.
A George III mahogany secretaire tall boy, the flared pediment with dentil cornice and blind fret carved frieze above two short and three long drawers to the upper section, fitted moulded brass and pierced handles with leaf pattern lock escutcheons, flanked by blind fret carved corners, the secretaire drawer below with fall-flap enclosing a fitted interior of pigeon holes, short drawers and a cupboard, two long drawers under, (two handles not matching), raised on bracket feet, 42 1/2in. x 73 1/2in. high.
Mid 18th Century oak longcase clock having a stepped cushion pediment and three blind fret Greek key pattern friezes - the square brass dial with urn and eagle design spandrels, the silvered chapter ring signed Isaac Hewlett, Bristol ( see Moore, A.J.
