CONDITION REPORT: Rob Webster Salop the case, raised top and cornice and good condition, carved blind fret frieze good condition, brass capped columns firm, hinge sound, original glass, some surface scratching to the central roundel of the dial not polished, original hands, crosshanded door not warped, however traces of worm to the lower section running in a narrow line, plinth generally faded, original elm back board, replaced lower section of back board some traces of worm in the original section with original glueing blocks, old seat board possibly original ?, provenance private estate

An early 18th Century oak and crossbanded longcase clock signed J Baddely Albrighton With a 28cm brass dial with date aperture, Roman and Arabic numerals, cast urn and leafy spandrels, the single train 30 hour movement with outside count wheel, striking on a saucer bell, the case with a cavetto cornice above a blind fret carved frieze, brass capped fluted columns, the slender crossbanded trunk with well figured wood, raised on plinth base, with one weight, 196cm, width of plinth 43cm. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Baddely clock- cornice original, side moulding missing, loose requires re-gluing, blind fret carved frieze good condition, original putty and glazed door, hinges sound, central dial polished, chaptering very bright, long door not warped, original hinges, crossbanded mahogany veneer left hand side large piece missing approx 5x8cms, and a piece of shaped moulding measures 18cms, plinth piece of moulding missing to the right hand angle triangular section approx. 3x1cms, original seat board, original full length back boards, shrinkage crack to right hand side above the plinth measures approx. 46cms but no space between, provenance unknown.

A fine early Victorian burr walnut secrétaire à abattant The rectangular well figured top raised on a plinth above a frieze drawer with a moulded border, the hinged fall front with a curvilinear ribbon tied C-scroll and foliate panel enclosing a satinwood inlaid interior with a purple Morocco leather and gilt tooled writing surface with five pigeonholes, each with blind fret carved arcaded tops above an arrangement of seven satinwood drawers with ebony turned handles above a pair of panelled cupboard doors, similarly applied with leaves and flowers enclosing a shelf flanked by outset columns carved with lilies, flowers and scrolls, raised upon an inverted breakfront plinth, 182x81x41cm. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 2343: Appears very good condition the rectangular top typical surface scratching for age but minor, frieze drawer good condition, linings with quadrant mouldings good condition, pendant scrolls flowers and leaves good condition, shaped sea scroll and flowers applied to the front good condition. Usual scratching associated with the fall front resting on the support. Interior very bright, leather and gilt writing pad good condition and bright. Minor veneer missing to the left hand edge of the front of the fall edge approximately 2cm x 2cm and on the opposite edge a small slither of veneer 1cm x 1cm. Blind fret arcades good condition, all drawers good condition with original handles, hinges sound and fall front, brass levers good condition, panel cupboard doors panels good condition, no warping to veneer. Interior one shelf adjustable, leaf carved applied flowers and leaves to the left hand side and right good condition, some old polish staining around the bottom of the plinth, original back, good condition.

A George III mahogany chest on chest With a cavetto cornice above a dentil frieze, two short and three long graduated cock beaded drawers, flanked by blind fret carved angles, the lower part with a brushing slide and three long graduated drawers, raised on plinth base and bracket feet, 178x107x53cm. CONDITION REPORT: Lot 2365: The cornice, front good condition, minor piece of dentil moulding missing on the right hand side approx. 2.5cms, left hand side cornice slight chips measuring approx 9cms and 7cms but very thin slivers, cockbeading missing to right of left hand short drawer, 12.5cms, small insets beneath the dentil moulding ware the lock would have gone up, a piece of veneer missing below the 1st long drawer measures approx 2x5cms, minor discolouration right hand side of 2nd long drawer 4x1cms, original chestnut or oak drawer linings good condition and boards, 5th long drawer lock missing, handles old and signs of dent below possibly replaced, stress crack left hand side top minor 26cms, some surface scratching to the bottom two drawers, surface scratching to the bracket feet, the front is faded, richer colour left and right hand side, no worm, left hand moulding loose requires re-fixing, good condition.
