A 19th Century Two Part Carved Mahogany Display Cabinet in the Chinese Chippendale style. The upper section having two glazed doors flanking a carved scenic centre panel with glass shelves to the velvet lined interior above four shallow frieze drawers blind-fret carved with trellis-work. The galleried top centred by a pagoda canopied section with fretted trellis rails either side. The table base having foliate carved edge moulding above two cock-beaded frieze drawers standing on column cluster legs united by a shaped under-shelf, 76½ ins (194 cms) high, 53½ ins (136 cms) wide, 19½ ins (50 cms) deep.
A Handsome George III Mahogany Chest on Chest. The upper chest having a dentil moulded top above a decorative blind fret carved frieze band, two short over three long cock-beaded drawers flanked by fluting to the canted corners. The base chest housing three further long drawers raised on bracket feet. The drawers retaining their original gilt brass swing handles. 75 ins (190 cms) high, 42 ins (107 cms) wide, 20½ ins (52 cms) deep.
A 19th Century Mahogany Eight Day Long Case Clock by W Prest of Liverpool. The 14 inch (36 cms) wide arch-topped enamel dial painted with warring crusaders in the arch and architectural structures in the corners. The face painted with a ring of black Roman numerals encircling a seconds and calendar subsidiary dial. The hood having a moulded swan neck pediment with embossed rosettes to the terminals flanking a swan finial with spired ball finials either side. The glazed hood door flanked by fluted columns. The trunk having a blind fret carved frieze band above a serpentine topped door with lip-moulded edge flanked by sunken corner columns above carved 'brick-work'. The moulded base raised on bracket feet, 98 ins (248 cms) in height.

Forsyth, William. History and Captivity of Napoleon at St. Helena; From the Letters and Journals of the Late Lieut.-Gen. Sir Hudson Lowe, and Official Documents not Before Made Public. 3 volumes, 1853 Three engraved frontispieces and a folding engraved map at the end of volume one, the engravings with some spotting and offsetting, the map with old repairs to the folds. Text with some scattered spotting. Original blind-stamped bindings, rubbed and worn, spines faded with some snagging. * This copy with the bookplates of B. Jackson. Lieutenant-Colonel Basil Jackson (1795-1889) was a Lieutenant in the Staff Corps in St. Helena. He arrived with Sir Hudson on April 14th 1816 on H. M. S. Phaeton. He was an artist and drew many watercolour sketches in the island. His job was to supervise the repairs to Longwood House where Napoleon had been living in exile since December,1815; (the frontispiece to the second volume is of the House , taken from one of his sketches). He also supervised the building of Bertrand’s Villa and Longwood New House. He spoke excellent French and on July 20th 1817 had an interview with Napoleon, returning to England on July 8th 1819 aboard H. M. S. Dunira. There are many ink and pencil notes in the margins of the book by Jackson which add to points made in the narrative. Many of the notes are signed.

Engraved title page with a contemporary owner’s manuscript initials and device, at the foot of the page a collector’s stamp, the letters “B” and “R” in a monogram inside a heart shaped laurel wreath. This latter stamp also on the foot of the last printed page Contents loose in the contemporary full vellum binding which has blind stamped wreaths on the upper and lower covers and a gilt oval wreath stamped on the spine. Spine title supplied in ink (in English) with the manuscript number “247.” The binding rubbed and worn.
