Diogo do Rosário, born in Évora, was prior in the convent of Guimarães, the city where he died in 1580. Fr. Diogo Diogo had a close relationship with D. Fr. Bartolomeu dos Mártires who commissioned him to publish a new legendarium (Braga, 1567) which was reprinted several times, as well as the translation of the “Summa Caietana”, by the Dominican exegete, theologian and Italian cardinal Tommaso de Vio (1469-1534). In fact, at least six Portuguese editions of the Rosarian translation of the “Summa” are known (Lisbon, 1557, 1560; Coimbra, 1566 and 1573; Braga, 1565 and 1566), the present one being probably one of the rarest, since there is no copy in the National Library or in the Biblioteca de D. Manuel II. Copy slightly cropped, with some restorations on the title page, slightly affecting the text on front and verso; Minor restorations on subsequent leaves. Binding from the 20th century (probably from the workshop of Mestre Império Graça), with blind tooling on the covers and spine. Anselm, 863.

Cristóvão de Matos, as can be seen from the approval of the inquisitorial censor D. Frei Bartolomeu Ferreira, inserted in front of the third page. The text, completed in 1566, following a decision by the Council of Trent, was intended for the instruction of pastors and priests in general and not directly for the pastoral care of the faithful. The title page (with a xylography representing the coat of arms of D. Miguel de Castro, archbishop of Lisbon) and the two following pages, were composed in black and red. The copy, a little trimmed and with occasional minor marginal restorations, has pages A1 and A2 (the first two pages of the Prologue) bound after page A6, but is complete and solid. San- | tis Pagnini Luce[n]sis eiusdem ordinis | interpretationem...- Olissiponi: Ex officina Ioannis Blauij Coloniensis. M. D. LVII. [1557]. [4], 96 f.; 27 cm.- E., Fr. Jerónimo de Azambuja (†1563), also known as Oleastro, religious of the Order of Saint Dominic, of which he was provincial, was one of the most prominent theologians of the 16th century. Deep knowledge of the Latin and Greek languages, he participated in the Council of Trent where he was noted for his opposition to any type of innovation; as chief inquisitor (1555) he practiced the greatest violence and cruelty. Original edition of his main work, the “Comentários ao Pentateuco”, divided into five parts or books, the first printed by João Barreira and the rest by João Blávio de Colónia. The commentary on the second book of the Pentateuch was the first to be printed by João Blávio de Colónia (fl. 1554-1563), the last German printer to settle in Lisbon. Copy slightly trimmed (occasional damage to the printed marginalia), with slight moisture stains (from the tide), but overall clean. MANUSCRITO.- PROFECIAS de varios avtores.- Século XVII (ca. 1650).- 300 f.; 29 cm.- E., One-handed manuscript, in poorly maintained cursive, from the 17th century (1st half), containing a collection of close to 100 texts relating to Portuguese and foreign prophecies (the title indicated above was transcribed from the spine of the volume). The codex opens with an extensive “Taboada do que consta este livro” (9 p.), registering about a hundred entries, locating each one of them on the respective sheet (the text runs between sheets 1 and 286). Apparently, the texts are arranged approximately chronologically, the oldest being dated 1598 and the most recent 1643. Some texts are accompanied by drawings, sometimes with astronomical motifs. Volume with some browning caused by iron gall ink, but entirely legible. Contemporary binding, full sheepskin, with blind decoration on the covers and spine badly worm damaged.

Francisco de Andrade, was printed in Lisbon, by Marco Borges, in 1567 (see Inocêncio, II, p. 332). The present Castilian translation does not show any indication of authorship, printer or publisher (name of the author according to the bibliography). Slightly trimmed copy with slight browning. Two restorations on the title page: a repaired central tear, without lack of support and restoration with reconstruction of the outer margin (180x50 mm), without affecting the text; unrestored wormhole on outer margin of next six leaves. Otherwise, a clean and solid copy. Recent binding, fully sheepskin, probably from the workshop of Mestre Império Graça, with blind tooling decoration on the covers and spine and engraving of the title and date on the reserve of the central cover. Don Balke (North Carolina, B. 1933) "Ringtail Cat" Signed lower center. Original Watercolor on Illustration Board.Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer (1946-2008), Founder of Unicover Corporation. This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood commemorative cover for Balke's Baby Wildlife of the 50 States, postmarked November 16, 1984. Living in a series of dens, the shy, Ringtail Cat often has quite a choice when it comes time to prepare a nursery. Rock crevices, hollow trees, abandoned cabins -- almost any dark, quiet spot along the deserted plains of Oklahoma will do. And, in late May, the special place is chosen. Soon, two to four furry white cubs are born -- blind and helpless -- and dependent on their mother's love for survival. If she must move, she will carry them -- one by one, by the nape of the neck -- with her, through the summer months. For, not until September and the first gusts of fall will they be ready for independence. In the meantime, they must learn to get along in the wilderness that is their home. With long pointed snout and large, dark eyes surrounded by whitish circles, and short pointy ears, the Ringtail Cat has earned the scientific name which means "clever little fox." It indeed has a fox-like appearance, and its abilities as a climber make it seem quite clever like a fox as well. For example, it uses a technique called chimney stemming to negotiate up or down tight rock crevices. With four feet against one sheer wall and its back against the other, it inches its way as a man in a chimney might. But the long bushy tail with large bands of black is the final deciding factor which places this shy little creature of Oklahoma in the same nocturnal family as the inquisitive, lovable raccoon. Image Size: 11.25 x 13 in. Overall Size: 18 x 20 in. Unframed. (B99037)
