A mid 17th Century oak credence table, probably Somerset, on bold column supports, with applied blind fretwork to arched spandrels and a central drawer, 92cm wide/Provenance: Simon Baldwick Antiques/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: We believe this table is basically period but with extensive restoration resuting in a lack of colour and patina, particulary to the interior. Drawer bottom replaxced. Some old worm holes. Undertier has been strengthened. Whole gate leg might be later.

E. M. Grace (1841-1911), English first class cricketer. Two autograph letters signed on Park House letterhead, 6 May 1896 and 9 May 1896, each addressed to Lord Edward Somerset, discussing forthcoming cricket matches and hoping Lord Edward will be able to play, 'I am pleased that you and J Rowe will play next Tuesday at Weston, Bath'; 'Am sorry you cannot play on Tuesday. I shall expect J Rowe unless I hear to the contrary. Will you let me know which matches to put you and him down for - I shall be pleased to play you both in all of them if you can manage it'. Each letter is signed 'Edward Mills Grace'. The letter of 6th May is complete with envelope, postmarked Thornbury, 6 May 1896. Folded as sent, some splitting / wear at fold-lines, some pale spotting. Together with an envelope (empty) addressed to Lord Edward Somerset, postmarked Lichfield, 21 October 1879, and an invitation to dine with HRH The Prince of Wales, 23 February 1885, on Hon. Corps of Gentlemen at Arms letterhead, complete with envelope (blind stamped for the same by Waterlow & Sons), addressed to Lord Edward Somerset, H.M. Body Guard, Badminton, postmarked London, 23 February 1885 (4)

Nonesuch & Roxburghe Club.- Evelyn (John) Memoires for my Grand-son, one of 1250 copies, this inscribed 'Out of series for Hilda' by the publisher Francis Meynell, printed on Auverge using the OUP Fell types, original limp vellum, ruled in blind, yapp edges, marbled board slip-case, short splits to upper edge, a very good copy, The Nonesuch Press, 1926; and another, John Evelyn, Roxburghe Club, 1987, 16mo & large 8vo (2)⁂ Hilda Peppercorn was the publisher's first wife. This volume from his collection.
Frankish rulers.- Palazzi (Giovanni) Aquila inter lilia, sub qua Francorum cæsarum a Carolo Magno usque ad Conradum imperatorem occidentis X., first edition, half-title, title in red and black and with large engraved printer's device, engraved portrait frontispiece, 10 plates, and numerous illustrations in text, some numismatic or emblematic, some water-staining, mostly at end, occasional spotting or light staining, contemporary ornately blind-stamped vellum over wooden boards, rebacked in contemporary vellum in compartments of a different shade with later ink title and numbers, lacking clasps, corners little worn, lightly soiled, [Praz p.442], folio, Venice, Giovanni Giacomo Herz, 1671.⁂ Profusely illustrated first volume (complete in itself) of this series. Two further volumes on Saxon and Bavarian rulers were published in 1673-74.

After Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin (1870-1935) - mother and child walking outside an inn with a coach and four approaching in the distance, signed artist proof, also bearing the fine art trade guild blind stamp, later partially coloured print originally published by Eyre & Spottiswoode Ltd, London, 15.25" x 16.25" ** The artist produced a great many illustrations for his book 'Old English Inns' which included the Star Inn, at Alfreston, Sussex but also included the inns at Liphook, Porlock Weir, The Angel, Woolhampton, The Bear Brereton and many other inns in the south of England
Late Victorian pollard or burr oak sideboard base having low flute moulded back over centre cupboards with dog kennel below, flanked by two fluted drawers on blind panelled cupboards below. Overall 182cm wide approx.(B.P. 21% + VAT) Decent condition overall. The back lacks what would have been a high mirrored structure.
