NATHANIEL MILLS A SILVER SNUFF BOX, engine turned decoration, gilded interior, Birmingham 1836, 6cm x 3.5cm, weight; 37g Condition report: wear from use, but good order, no nasty dents, few little dings to edges, a noticeable gap left front of box. Good gilding to interior. The cartouche now blind, possibly had an inscription, its little is a little depressed & scratched.
Wren (Percival Christopher) Beau Geste, first edition, signed presentation inscription from the author "To Alan Graham-Smith Esq. with the author's compliments & thanks for encouraging approval, Wren, Nov '24" to endpaper, light foxing, original first issue red cloth upper cover in blind, spine lettered in gilt, light fading spine, spine ends and corners bumped and worn, 8vo, [1924].⁂ Wren's most popular and enduring work, rare in the first edition, especially so inscribed. Alan Graham-Smith (1910-2006) was Wren's adopted step-son from his second marriage.

Darwin (Charles) The Formation of Vegetable Mould through the action of Worms, with observations on their habits, third thousand, wood-engraved illustrations, errata slip, advertisement f. at end, original blind-stamped and gilt green cloth, rubbed at extremities, a very good copy, 8vo, 1881.⁂ Provenance: 'To the model maiden of the 19th century Jessie Beck from Theodore Beck, Dec 13, 1881', with 3 capital letters depicted as worms (inscription to front endpaper). Theodore Beck was the Principal of the Mahommedan Anglo-Oriental College, Aligarh, in the years 1884-99. A card bearing a contemporary verse on the death of Darwin, signed with initials R.F.F, is mounted on front free endpaper.
