HITLER ADOLF: (1889-1945) Fuhrer of the Third Reich 1934-45. D.S., A Hitler, one page, 4to, Berlin, 26th June 1941, in German. The typed document states 'I confer on the 130 subjects of the German Reich, who are specified on this list, permission to accept the foreign orders and decorations awarded to them. The individual documents confirming this permission are to be provided with facsimiles of my signature.' At the base of the document is a typed summary of the recipients including members of the President's Private office, the Foreign Office, Army, Navy, various Reich Ministries etc. Countersigned by Otto Meissner (1880-1953, Head of the Office of the Reich President). With blind embossed seal featuring the Nazi swastika and eagle. With blank integral leaf (partially neatly clipped) and with two file holes to left edge, not affecting text or signature. Together with two smaller related typed documents, one signed by Meissner with an abbreviated signature, the first breaking down the 130 recipients by status (civil servants, private individuals etc., also noting Reich Minister Rust), and the second directing that the individual orders be prepared with the date line Berlin, 26th June 1941, and confirming that they should feature a facsimile signature of Hitler. Accompanied by a full English translation. Some very light age wear and a few minor stains, not affecting the signatures. Otherwise VG, 3

DVORAK ANTONIN: (1841-1904) Czech Composer. Bold, dark fountain pen ink signature ('Antonin Dvorak') and date, Birmingham, 27th August 1885, in his hand on a sheet of 8vo blind embossed stationery. Also signed by Alexander Mackenzie (1847-1935, Scottish Composer, head of the Royal Academy of Music 1888-1924) and the tenor William J. Winch with their names alone. Rare. VG. The Birmingham Triennial Music Festival was founded in 1784 and was the longest running classical musical festival of its kind, the last performance taking place in 1912. Dvorak's The Spectre's Bride debuted at the Festival to great acclaim in 1885.

D.S., A Tennyson, being a signed cheque, issued on an 8vo sheet of blind embossed notepaper from Farringford, Freshwater, Isle of Wight, 15th July 1864. The manuscript cheque, in the hand of Tennyson's wife Emily, is made payable to Thomas Wilson for the sum of £35. Two bank cancellations lightly affect Tennyson's signature which remains legible. VG

KELLER HELEN: (1880-1968) American deafblind Author, Activist and Lecturer. T.L.S., Helen Keller, in bold pencil, one page, 4to, New York, 27th April 1951, to Desmond Harmsworth, on the printed stationery of the American Foundation for Overseas Blind. The form letter states that there are fourteen million blind people in the world today, most living in India, Egypt and China, and comments 'Blindness is to live long, long days-- and life is made up of days. It is to live immured, baffled, all God's work shut out. It is to sit helpless, staring into the dark with nothing but the dark staring back...' Keller's letter further states that the American Foundation for Overseas Blind is working hard around the world 'to inspire leadership to guide blind people out of their well of darkness and to put equipment into their hands for schooling and tools with which to work.' and in concluding asks for a gift from Harmsworth to the foundation. Accompanied by the original envelope and a small pamphlet entitled The Blind Overseas. VG

ANNE QUEEN: (1665-1714) Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland 1702-14. D.S., Anna R, as Queen, at the head, one page (vellum), oblong folio, Palace of St. James, 12th March 1703. The manuscript document, in Latin, appoints Thomas, Baron of Raby, to represent Her Majesty's interests at the Court of Prussia and to be accorded all right, privileges and amenities that go with the appointment. Countersigned at the foot by Sir Charles Hedges, Secretary of State for the Southern Department 1704-06. With good blind embossed paper seal affixed. The text and signature are very slightly light, although perfectly legible, probably as a result of the original ink being slightly weak rather than fading. VG

WILLIAM IV: (1765-1837) King of the United Kingdom 1830-37. L.S., William, Ad. of the Fleet, one page, folio, n.p. ('Impregnable, in the Downes'), 21st May 1814, to the Commissioners of His Majesty's Navy. William, as Admiral of the Fleet, transmits a Report of Survey (no longer present) to his correspondents. Slight splitting to the edges of the folds. G. Also includes William R, as King, at the head, one page, oblong folio, Court at St James's, 16th December 1831. The partially printed document, on vellum, is a military commission appointing Edmund Boyds to be a Coronet in the 14th (Duchess of York's) Regiment if Light Dragoons commanded by Major General Sir Edward Kermin (?). Countersigned by Viscount Melbourne (1779-1848, Home Secretary and British Prime Minister 1834, 1835-41). With blind embossed paper seal affixed. Slightly neatly trimmed to the upper edge, just affecting the Monarch's signature, otherwise in very clean condition. About VG. 2

Signed by George at the base, when blind, alongside a blind embossed paper seal. Some slight ink blotting at the conclusion of the signature. Light overall wrinkling. G

Some very light overall foxing and minor creasing at the edges, small area of paper loss at the right, not affecting the text or signatures. G
