We can't tell if it is stuck down as it is within a sealed glazed frame. 2. there are no signs of any foxing or damage to the paper. 3. Colours muted, not vibrant. 4. The picture does have the pencil signature and the Fine Trade Guild stamp.

[RODRIGO JOAQUIN]: (1901-1999) Spanish Composer & Pianist. KAMHI VICTORIA (1905-1997) Turkish Pianist, wife of Rodrigo 1933-97. A.M.Q.S., Joaquin Rodrigo, penned, signed and inscribed in the hand of Kamhi, one page (manuscript paper), oblong 12mo, n.p., n.d. In blue ink Kamhi has written a quotation of six bars over two staves from the theme of the opening movement Allegro con spirito from her blind husband's most famous composition Concierto de Aranjuez (1939). Titled at the head and signed and inscribed ('Para Harrie Johnston, muy affmento….') beneath the quotation. Very slightly irregularly trimmed at the edges, otherwise VG The composition for classical guitar and orchestra Concierto de Aranjuez established Rodrigo's reputation as one of the most significant Spanish composers of the 20th century.

SCOTT WALTER: (1771-1832) Scottish Novelist. D.S., Walter Scott, in the form of an endorsement, one page, slim oblong 8vo, n.p. (Edinburgh?), n.d. (November 1814). The manuscript document is a promissory note signed by John Ballantyne, issued at Edinburgh ('at our Counting house') on 18th November 1814 and states, in part, 'Four months after date we promise to pay to Walter Scott Esq. or order Two hundred & fifty pounds….'. Signed by Scott to the verso and also bearing a countersignature. With a blind embossed revenue stamp. Some very light, minor age wear, otherwise VG John Ballantyne (1774-1821) Scottish Publisher, notable for his work with Walter Scott. Anonymously, Scott wrote and published his first novel Waverley in 1814, the same year as signing the present document.

[GOEBBELS JOSEPH]: (1897-1945) German Politician, Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany 1933-45. An unused 4to sheet of Goebbel's printed stationery, featuring the black printed heading Der Reichsminister fur Volksaufklarung und Propaganda beneath a blind embossed Nazi eagle and swastika, also with the printed address at Wilhelmplatz, Berlin. Together with an unused small 4to sheet of stationery featuring the black printed heading Kanzlei des Fuhrers der NSDAP beneath a blind embossed Nazi eagle and swastika in the upper left corner and the address in Berlin, and two telephone numbers, in the upper right corner. Some light creasing, about VG Provenance: Accompanied by copies of statements of origin signed by Richard O. Rex stating that he personally removed the stationery from the Reich Chancellery in Berlin in July 1945 after having been flown in to help establish a medical dispensary for use during The Potsdam Conference. Also signed by a Notary Public as a witness. Together with copies of further supporting detailed documentation relating to Rex and his acquisitions.

D.S., von Brauchitsch, one page, 4to, Berlin, 2nd April 1938, in German. The attractively penned partially printed document, issued in the name of the Reich and bearing a facsimile signature of Adolf Hitler, appoints Willy Foll, a governmental building contractor and qualified engineer, to be a teacher in technical studies upon joining the permanent Civil Service. Signed by Brauchitsch at the foot alongside a blind embossed seal featuring the Nazi Swastika and Eagle. With blank integral leaf. VG

MILCH ERHARD: (1892-1972) German Field Marshal and Air Inspector General during World War II. D.S., Milch, one page, 4to, Berlin, 26th June 1936, in German. The partially printed document, completed in ink in a neat calligraphic hand, appoints Friedrich Scheller to be a Technical Secretary working within the Civil Service of the Reich and states, in part, 'I ratify this document in the expectation that the person named in it will fulfil his oath of service loyally and the duties of his post conscientiously, and will justify the confidence shown in him by this nomination. At the same time he may be assured of the special protection of the Fuehrer and Reichchancellor'. Signed by Milch at the conclusion in his capacity as Reich Minister for Aviation alongside a blind embossed seal. The printed document, in French, is addressed to the Captains, Bailiffs, their Sworn Lieutenants and all other loyal subjects of Jersey, Guernsey and the other Channel Islands and relates to Reverend Hubert George De Carterat Stevens-Guille, a Fief de Canaly. Countersigned at the foot by Edward Shortt (1862-1935) British Lawyer and Politician, Home Secretary 1919-22. With blind embossed seal to the left edge. MACDONALD CLAUDE: (1852-1915) British Diplomat, best known for his service in China and Japan. In 1899 MacDonald was the author of a Diplomatic Note which resulted in the Macartney-MacDonald Line, which still forms the basis of the border between China and Pakistan. A good A.L.S., Claude M MacDonald, four pages, 8vo, Tokyo, Japan (although on the blind embossed stationery of the British Legation at Peking), 19th January 1901, to 'My dear Treherne'. MacDonald informs his correspondent that their letter has finally found him at his headquarters in Peking, commenting 'It is certainly pleasanter in many ways than Peking and I think I shall be able to carry on without sandbagging myself round about and being shot at by the “Government to which I am accredited” though really one never knows one's luck' and further wishing his correspondent good fortune and happiness and also enquiring about his Godson ('is there anything I can do for the young man….what are you going to make of him'). A light tape stain to the upper edge of the first and final pages, not affecting the text or signature, otherwise VG
