O’SULLIVAN, T.D., M.P. Prison Poems; or, Lays of Tullamore. Dublin, Nation Office, 1888.Timothy Daniel Sullivan [1827-1914], born in Bantry, was MP for Westmeath and later for Dublin. His best-known songs include ‘God Save Ireland’, in memory of the ‘Manchester Martyrs’, and ‘Ireland Boys, Hurrah’. He was a member of the Irish Party and a supporter of the Land League. A French mahogany, satinwood and gilt metal mounted transitional style ladies writing table, the rectangular top with tooled leather insert, above a blind frieze drawer centred with a bleu celeste ground porcelain panel decorated with shepherd and attendant girls, the back and sides similarly decorated with circular and oval porcelain panels, raised on tapered cylindrical supports with fluted detail, acanthus collars and tapered cylindrical feet, 81cm wide x 72.5cm high x 60cm deep.
